Can someone please explain this then (and this isn't a dig or trying to stir things up) but one thing that's always got my annoyed is..
They aren't 50 years old, I don't understand why they claim they are?
Don't be silly.
Your Mini isn't 50 years old, does that mean it's not a Mini??
Mini is a brand not just a car.
You shol be happy that the brand lives on with the Binis!
Mini was a car designed by a genius that changed very little in it's lifetime.
Prior to it's launch, the word Mini didn't really exist as such but it then became the buzz word of the 1960's for lots of reasons. It also now appears in the dictionary and the description says it's a short skirt or a very small car. Ha.
But then a real Mini didn't need to wear a badge to tell everyone what it was, because most people knew.
In fact it was the general public who made the 'Mini' name stick, as Austin dealers were calling theirs the 'Austin Seven' (Morris dealers called theirs the 'Morris Mini Minor'). But as much as it annoyed the Austin sales people when everyone called the car a Mini, they soon switched it from Seven to Mini.
So the real Mini was a people car, more than just a brand like McDonalds or Starbucks etc.
