Go to www.crturbos.co.uk and plug GT1752 into the search to see what they are fitted to. CR turbos will rebuild a 17 for £300.

but second hand ones cost over £100.. So you might as well buy new imo

Well I bought a new one for £300, but they are rare. I bought a knackered one for £40 that could have been rebuilt. And i bough one for £80 that needed a new compressor wheel, CR turbos put me a new wheel on for £100. It seems common to get useable condition 17s with damaged comp wheels, I probably paid too much for mine so bargains to be had.

lightly (home) ported head, and a gt17 turbo and the cam mentioned above, the rest is fairly standard.

joe,i would say just to correct any false impressions ,the head had a lot of hours in it ,and runs 36/31mm modified stainless valves .pistons are omega.there arent any magic tricks , its just a case of making the whole system ,from intake to exhaust , work in harmony with everything else .

looking at this ,i doesnt seem that the m45 is all that bad above 10 psi. i do know that they are run up to 15 psi on the bini and make around 240 bhp max .
200 bhp would be around 509 m3/h ,15 psi is pr of 2 ish.so your looking at around 57/58% efficiency.(if thats what this graph is ) with a blow through carb ,and BIG ic ,id give it a go on 15 psi and about a 7.8:1 cr and see how it does ,oh did i say BIG INTERCOOLER LOL.

But look at these Robert

Power consumption at 15psi (not specified, and probably for good reason) is going to likely be 30hp.

And the Delta T (again not specified for 15psi) is likely to be in the region of 200F (95C), hence why you say BIG IC, imagine trying 15psi on a suck thorugh!!!

the power taken to drive it is surprisingly high Will, although i well believe it.

perhaps that explains why so many people have so much trouble with belt slip?

Robert: can you get away with 36-31 valves without offsetting them at all? My current head has 36-30, and I was advised by benross that any larger and the head is likely to crack between valves.

As I'm not in a huge rush to get the engine built, if it'd be worth while I may get the exhaust valves taken to 31mm

no offset on my head prawny ,but it may be the only head to run hardened inserts on the ex .,these may be stopping cracking ,and are very thin ,,but have not fallen out yet ,,,maybe on the 30 psi rr test they will lol, ulp.

yes GT17 is good for 200+ ... not that you will need anywhere near that on the road or track.. useful for the 1/4 mile i guess.
