Not my mini... and not today either!

But on Saturday I spent a few hours helping a friend with a mini sky he's been GIVEN!!! for his son to learn to drive in, It had been off the road for two years so they expected it to fail the MOT and took it straight in for the test.

True enough it did fail, however only on some very trivial items, nearly everything lighting not functioning correctly, washers bunged up, one sill needing repair and the hand brake clevis pins being rather corroded (so needed a clean up and greasing!)

all in all not a bad job for 2 years standing...

So on Saturday, I had a look at the electrics first and managed to get the headlamp main, dip beam and flash correctly functioning, the horn intermittently working (needs a new switch it would seem) and replaced the fuse box and put new connectors on all of the fuse box wiring as several of them fell apart!

They've opted to take the car to a friendly mechanic to get the welding etc done, and whilst there he'll finish off the rest of the electrics... but I must say for a freebie I'm very jealous!

Half day at work, so got home and treated Sox to new plugs/leads and a Mountney wheel (after nearly knocking myself out) - then went for a spin, windows down, Muse blasting.  :shades:

Last weekend I pulled out all the sound-deadening foam from the bulkhead. Much cleaner inside. As per this thread: http://www.theminifo...deadening-foam/     :highfive:

Today, had cause to use the fan....and had a face full of foam shoot over me!!   >_<

I got to work this morning, and it looked as if I had really bad dandruff!  :shy:

So this weekend will be spent cleaning the interior.......

Well I'm contemplating burning it at the moment lol. Doing a resto, and the rear end isn't lining up, so I think the rear subframe is a bad fit, and it's brand new :xxx: :xxx: :xxx:

Emptied all the rubbish out of it (a whole bag - where was that hiding?)

Removed battery to allow me to remove boot lining kit (stupid design). Hoovered boot to clear strange rusty dust residue

Wowed at how the mini got through it's MOT with no battery retaining clamp (must sort that)

Removed rear bumper very carefully so bolts didn't break

Polished rear bumper to within an inch of it's life

Gazed forlornly at encroaching rust on rear end. That is all.

Welded the new sill on, and finished quarter bottom, sill stiffener, and heelboard repairs, so the car is 3/4 welded. Now all it needs is the new front end welding on.

Also primed, sealed and painted the underside that needed it.

Sha'nt be long until it's rolling :D
