Fitted new carpets and a handmade leather gear gaiter.

If there's interest in the gaiter... I could get more made.

Following on from getting it running gear for the first time in 6 years on Friday.

Got the car up in the air on ramps and axel stands. Got the calipers and discs off the front. Managed to change the passenger side hose to a braided one and got half way through changing the driver side one but the nut which forms part of the hose rounded off. So I called it a day.

I will have to drill it out the next time I'm in the garage.

Went back outside, managed to actually get the entire engine out finally.

pulled engine fitted new timing belt oil seals. replaced inner pot joint gaiters, refitted engine. fitted all ancillaries.

just gear linkage and exhaust to fit. cream crackered. Thanks to all re engine removal with pot joints in. I love my quick release engine mounts and air tools, + self locking chain hoist.

Removed pesky twin 1.25 su's and fitted a hif44. My word what a difference, just sorting bits for air intake now, will likely have my filter in behind the grill all going well.
Ordered yet more bits 🤑

Took mine for its MOT today, a water pipe snapped off while it was being tested. Something to fix before it goes back for a retest. Apparently the more modern pink antifreeze has a habit of eating into plastic hence the breakage. My Meriva had a plastic bit break on the water pump a couple of months ago too. They told me to use the older blue antifreeze instead.

You should use blue antifreeze in an old Mini anyway, something to do with galvanic corrosion or the difference in metals I think (will have to google it!)

Reconnected gear linkage. changed those silly front clamps on the LCB for u bolts .. fitted rest of exhaust system.. and it fired up first time. oil leak looks like it's sorted. Fan is now on right way round. Waiting for stainless tie wraps for inner pot joints.and found a crack on my battery connector. Got all dash lights changed for T10 LED's except charge light. Just got one bad earth and a dodgy connector to sort and alarm .Then dash back in Finished. Happy Days!!!
