Not my mini, but I took the 1275 engine out of my newly acquired metro today. Coincidentally, if anyone wants some cheap metro bits I'm more than happy to help out before it gets scrapped.

Gave mine a much needed wash, it has been 4 years since its last saw a bucket and sponge!

Chopped the inner wings out with my new fancy reciprocating saw and also inadvertently cut through the threaded shaft on the shock mounts

Changed my wheel arch colour from black to body colour and fitted rubber strip between the arches and bodywork, unable to drive the car at the moment as I am awaiting a date when my welding can be carried out, next job is to change the wheel colour.  366.jpg   15.75K   4 downloads

after rebore, crank grind and skim, I started the rebuild.  Crank and pistons in and connected.  Very satisfying.

Removed the 1990's Rover Mini bonnet badge ready for the 1970's bonnet badge I've just ordered!

Used it for it's intended purpose and did the weekly shop and what not in it :)

Fitted a "high level " brake light.

Only because I was told by a wagon driver...who was behind me at a set of lights,He jumped out his lorry and said "NICE MINI MATE,But can't see ya brake lights...Be careful"

So got a 24 led  from flea-bay £4.00. drilled two holes (MINUTE) in the frame that runs around the inside top of the rear roof/window,fitted the bracket,ran the red wire down to the boot thru the "parcel shelf" to the drivers side brake light,then clipped the earth lead to fit the screw on the bracket.

Tested works great. Just angled it up a bit so all the BIG BOYS out there can see it.

May keep nobheads offa my arse now
