Not today but over the weekend-
Covered over 200 miles on a road trip to the folks, then put it up for sale.
Then yesterday picked up a new project to get back on the road.

Swapped my clear rear lights for some more traditional ones.

Got rid of the knocking noise from the rockers by putting a few shims on the rocker shaft - 40 thou gap before 😳 Now 7 thou 😀

3 nice little jobs, lowered the front end (see previous post where i turned it to a monster-truck), replaced my fuel gauge sender unit (now i can sort of see what fuel i have) and finally got round to replacing my handles. See before and after pics.

Lesson learned :

cheap chrome + several Scottish winters - garage = badly pitted handles.

(Now i'm back down south, it means i have a nice dry garage for it)

90 BHP Cooper conversion at Mini Sport and had the Cooper brake conversion at the same time. New fuel sender to make the fuel gauge work properly and a new bead trim in the front window.

Replaced top and bottom balljoints on NS in a vein attempt to sort a suspension knocking my Mini has...

Must be the actual suspension itself that needs sorting...

Also rewired the fusebox under the bonnet and replaced it for proper blade fuses instead of the glass type, because they're getting hard to get hold of... just need to do the same to the inline fuses behind the airfilter....

Worn front subframe tower bolt bushes (along with the rear floor mounts) are a good cause for the front subframe suspension knocking. A good test is with the bonnet open, have a mate rock the steering and look to see if the engine/subframe is 'moving' within the engine bay.

As for the fuses, hopefully you have checked the fuse ratings carefully? As blade fuses are rated differently to the old glass type. Ones current and the others blow, but can't remember witch.

With regards to the blade fuses, they'll be OK ;) I'm sure they will, but thanks for the advice....

I'll order a set of polybushes for the subframe top mounts, everything else is polybushed so that might as well be too...

I'll change the suspension trumpets from the Hi-Lo's to the standard trumpets just see of it makes a difference, if not then I'll change the subframe mounts ....

It's only on the N/S that its got a knock though..... feels perfectly OK to drive, just I can hear the knocking when the stereo isn't turned up - usually when the wife is passenger... then I get a different type of noise :)

Have spent the day today removing the rear HiLo's and installing the original trumpets but keeping the aftermarket springs, to cure the knock I had on my Mini...

Its not coming from the rear..... so.... had a look at the front suspension to see if its loose or whatever.. Proceeded to remove the shock absorber, only to find a blood great crack from just behind where the shocker is, so seam welded it up - for safety more than anything...

Tightened up the front HiLo, well actually wound it up (down...?) to move the suspension up a couple millimeter.... did this both sides so its even..... went for a drive and no-more knocking....? so it was either the suspension was loose (doubtful as its under constant compression) or it was the crack I found just behind the shocker....

In the next couple of days I will be removing the front HiLo's and replaceing them with the original trumpets but keep the aftermarket springs, because the original rubber doughnuts are FUBAR anyway....

Have also re-trimmed the O/S front wing to help stop the tyre from scrubbing on the arch on lock, it has cured it so far... but dunno if its me raising th suspension slightly or re-trimming the arch.....

Been quite a productive day today....

Tomorrow I might fit the removeable bonnet catches I have so I can have a removeable bonnet LOL
