Thats what a mate on the turbo forum said lol. Yeh im not rushing either i will have it when im ready. Is the alpher webber injection coming from MBE or another company? they used the alpher webber on a mini with a sequential gear box for hill climb i believe, in one of the mini mags.

I know the one. Its an orange one I think. Not sure whether I want 220bhp unless I got hold of a dog box. I did see one for sale at Stanford Hall this year which I was thinking of buying but Im not so sure about using one for a road car.

Anyone thinking of running any kind of carbs on a 7-port head is simply wasting their money. You'll gain so little over a 5-port, no matter how pretty your inlet.
Injection is the only way, plain and simple. Injection is a nightmare on a siamesed inlet engine like the mini; ditch the dual inlets and go to a four-inlet tract and the problem disapears.
But add these extra ports, and blow through an SU carb, or any carb for that matter, and you're almost back to where you were on a 5-port.

I was looking at seven-port turbo, but now it looks like it's going to be common as minilights, :w00t: so i'm back to sorting the injection out with a turbo (this hasn't yet been done properly)...

Old skool i guess it could work but how do you intend to use the engine race or road? wouldn't the straight cut manage that bhp then. Its really the best of both worlds having a 7 port, with the better gas flow and all the other advantages over a 5 port, but still not having to work as hard to do the job.

So what do you recommend then dave, if the chat with MBE ends up in them saying its not really worth doing this to a 7 port for road use then i will just end up going with a 1293 turbo with t3.

Id love to go the injection and fully mappable route but it costs an absolute fortune. :w00t: Im not the sort to buy something cause it looks nice and shiny. There are ways of making plenumns efficient its just a matter of fabricating them to suit your requirements.

Well it can and it cant oddly lol but like you said if it looks nice and has no given advantage to the car why do it, hopefully this wont go to expensive or it will take longer, mind you im hoping to get a little deal with mbe but who knows.

Its really intended for road driving, not slow driving but road driving none the less  I dont really care if its a bit of a dog to use around town but its definatly gunna be more drivable with a turbo than with twin webers, 296+ cam, paddle clutch etc. :nugget: :w00t: Well the sccr box is going to be more reliable at this level of power than the usuall helical cut

Well if it ends up being to expensive i will either stay with a 1293 turbo or go for an engine that has mechanical power instead of bolt on power. Make it sound nice and V8ish LOL if poss.

I cant really see any problem running a carb. On the flow side of things, the head is miles ahead of the game compared with the 5 Port and as for the plenumn. The only problem I can think of is the fuel/air mix becoming static at low revs. However, if squarer edges are used for the outlets on the plenumn, this should keep the fuel mix more airborn before it enters the cylinders. But saying that, its a 7 port. Its gunna be sucking harder at low revs anyway.
