Im certainly not going to race it against other cars. If anything ever happened to it, id just never beable to replace it. Track days, drag strips and occasional hill climbs sounds good to me. :w00t:

Hi CJ! Yes i have, fuel injection, megasquirt and a fabricated plenum chamber with a rover 220 turbo throttle body. K series injectors support up to 180 bhp and are dirt cheap. T3 on an original metty ex manifold.

I'm with David on this one, you HAVE to use fuel injection. It's cheaper, easier to tune, gives more mpg, more power and is just the only way to go. Use the avonbar phase 2 cam.

With webber/dellorto carbs, (the lotus esprit turbo used turbo spec carbs), you will have to rejet every time you up the boost or lower it. The jets cost a mint!

If going for an SU, forget the 7 port and build a 5 port turbo motor as you will have no advantage over the 5 port at all.

We can help out with the design of the manifold on TM forum!

Fuel injection is like having the carb rejetted every 500rpm for every possible load. Carbs are obsolete.

Well it should be cheap from scrappy i guess. who knows, megasquirt is about 120 not built, and 170 built but you still dont get all the bits.

Well, with buying a fully built squirt, EDIS coil and ignition control pack, ford trigger wheel, K series injectors will come to less than £300 all in.

For aftermarket injection, I would say Emerald was your best bet and a lot cheaper than MBE and is happy to take on mapping projects.

Unless you are Bill Gates secret love child, in which case, crack on! :dontgetit:

Ive heard loads of good stuff about this mega squirt ecu. If I was to get it, do I need someone to make a map up or does it already have one that just needs playing with?

Well, there are loads of maps on the site for similar engines. Best, like a carb, to take it to a rolling road. You can just use one of the similar maps. You will be able to drive the car gently to a rolling road then.

Of course you can also fit a lambda sensor in the ex like I have done, (can be done on any mini), so you can see where the motor is running lean or rich. We will be doing a feature on this install in the first issue of the new magazine. :dontgetit:

What do I do with minis?! Tune then and thrash them until they cry, break them, rebuild them faster and do it again :dontgetit: I am launching a new tech and resto mini mag. By profession I am an Engineering/exploration geologist :dontgetit:
