Right.... the above didnt happen in the slightest! The wellers sat in my car boot since then and only made it as far as the garage earlier this week. They havent even been balanced yet!

But even though Sonic has No MOT, No Tax, No Insurance, The A panel needs welding before the MOT and I have tried fitting the wellers since I painted them (guaranteed for some reason they wont clear the brakes now!)
There is, however a potential plan which could see all of the above complete and Sonic (along with Hanna and I) at Gaydon!

Some of you know, that I work in business travel. And my employers sister company (who I deal with a lot) is a chauffeur company who use volvo and Mercedes benz. They have such a good relationship, they have Merc mechanic and bodyshop guys working in the depot (servicing and fixing all the Volvo and merc's that the chauffeurs thrash and crash!) I've recently realised (thanks to my Financial Director telling me to get them to do it) that the guys in the work shop are more than happy to do personal jobs on the side for staff... So looks like they might be sorting Sonics A panel for me!

Before then, there is a few "tasks" that need doing before I can get it there!

1) Weller's balanced DONE
2) Fit Weller's and get spacers and longer studs if needed
3) Find someone who will lend me a car with a tow hook, or is willing to lend a hand on Saturday to get my car from East London to West Drayton.
4) Have the panel replaced and painted (and one seam strip painted)
5) They can also MOT it.
6) Get Tax and insurance

There is a plan.......! Just fitting everything in when I am working 6 till 7 (long commute) aint easy!

If they can Mot it for you then you dont need someone to tow it. Book it in and then you can drive it their. You will need some kind of insurance though.

You can drive any insured untaxed car to an MOT or place of repair so long as it is not deemed "dangerous".

Since this place in west drayton will be the place of repair and MOT, you just need to let the boss know your going on a particular day and plan to be there at a certain time. If the plod pull you over, give them the details of the MOT/ repair place they will phone them, everything will be ok and they will send you on your way.

Its impossible to get tax without a MOT so they wouldn't be able to do you under the new legislation either.

Yes lads I know. to be honest I did forget about the fact I can drive it if I book it in for an MOT due to the fact I'm not positive they do MOT's yet. I'm pretty sure they do but I will discuss that a little more with the guys tomorrow when I am down that office. Had to much else on my plate over the last 5 days but all the over things that have been occupying my time have been cleared and sorted and I can concentrate on getting this sorted now.

Looking good mate, I like the MOT plan, you know it'll be done properly by mercedes benz boys! Can't wait to see it on the wellers, they look nice with you.

Update:
Weller wheels have now been balanced! The weights were put along the inner rim so they wont foul on the brakes or look nasty on the outside of the wheel. Whats the bet the wheels still wont fit over the 8.4" brakes now they have been painted! Im going to try and fit them tomorrow, but know they wont fill the arches without the spacers. I have the spacers, but dont yet have any longer wheel studs (anyone local got any? I didnt get a chance to go get some today)

The wheel contingency plan is to use Hannas 12x6 Revos to get to work on Monday if needs be (if the wellers wont fit)

I guess I should get out there and make a start?!!

First thing to do is move the Audi, then Hannas mini (which is Dead) so I can get the pick up out of the garage.
I hope the Wellers fit, I'm really not in the mood to have to be taking the Revos off Hannas and swapping wheels over :)

What you doing here? GET OUT THERE

I was being lazy!
Should have gone out earlier though, leaving it till to hottest part of the day then doing it all in direct sunlight without water probably wasn't the smartest thing to do!

The backs are on but as predicted The fronts wont fit now. Will have to put the spacers on but looking for the smallest possible size. I got 6 1" spacers (2 are already in use on the rear of the pick up, and the other 4 are sitting in the garage somewhere. So if anyone has any smaller spacers AND wheels studs, and wants some larger 1" spacers, fancy a trade?

Whats the smallest size spacer and wheel studs I will need to clear the brakes? (ie what is the smallest size, I dont need much at all.)

Before I could do anything I had to clear all this lot from the front of the pick up so I could get it out! :)

Anyway HOPEFULLY Sonic and Freddie will both have a new home (4 car garage) VERY SOON!

Heres the inside of the wellers with the weights fitted. These two have the largest weights so I will fit these to the rear

Sorry about the quality of the pictures, but this is how it looked when I got the wheels on (wouldnt move though!) :)

This feels like a reall noob question but ive never fitted wheels with new tyres before so I dont know, what's meant to go first the red do or the yellow dot?! I tried to work it out from the tyre tread pattern but It looked pretty similar no matter which way round I put it....... cant believe I dont know the answer to the above!

right now, Sonics front is back on freddies old 12" wheels. I hope to get hold of some small spacers and studs tomorrow so I can get the front wellers on then take him to be welded on Tuesday.

Loving how he looks on the black 10x6s though! Really sets them off with the black roof, arches and load bay cover

I believe the idea of the yellow dot on the tyre is that it goes by the tyre valve when the tyre is fitted to aid balancing.

Ahh ok thanks. So the tyres are fine....?

How easy is it to change the wheels studs? Anyone got any info / links on doing it? .....are they a pain?
