Wellers look better without the center cap anyway mate!

You think? But then I wont have my Sonic logos on my wheels!
who else thinks they look better without centre caps?

They look much better! Look at my project thread for Alice. I just posted a pic of my mates car with his wellers on and hes not got any center caps. Looks much better IMO.

I will think about it! lol. Really want my running sonics like I had on the 13s thou....

I have just got back and now have x2 spacers and x8 longer wheel studs!
Minispeed is alright. First time ive been there. Its no mini spares and parking was annoying but handy for locals and relatively nice service.

Bad news, the guy doing Sonic goes on holiday on Thursday so Sonic will defiantly not be at Gaydon. We will set be at SMD with Hanna's mini (freddie) and sonic thou.

At least it means I can delay the payout of insurance tax, not and the repairs till after we have moved into the house.

Not sure sonic's going to be ready in time for SMD now..... what with moving and every thing else its just to much of a pain in the ar$e to rush to get done just for SMD.

If I dont rush to have it done, I will have all winter and the larger garage. I can take my time with it and do a little at a time.

sounds like a clever idea to be fair... iv assumed mine isnt going till be ready till next year now, what with all the bits n bobs iv decided it would be a good idea to buy. And a larger garage always makes work quicker when ever u get round to it

Shame, but at least it gives you plenty of time to get everything done. If you rush it then you might miss something or it might break down and you'll regret it. Better in the long run IMO.

Thanks guys, the messages are much appreciated. Not sure how much im going to get done over the winter either really. We should (WILL) be in the new house by then with the huge garage, which will be a masive help, but money is still going to be tight what with saving for the wedding still and at the end of the day, Hanna's mini has to come first (for many reasons)

Its just fustrating because at the end of the day only the A panel desperatly needs doing, but if its going to be done I might as well do the scuttle, wings and front panel at the same time. Think I am going to go down the route of a subtle steal flip front but still with a commercial grille.

Yeah man its been a while! Im bummed about Sonic, but still very much looking forward to it!

Right, cleared out the old garage and moved everything, including Sonic and Freddie (the misses mini) to the new place.) Freddie is on the drive at the moment as we didnt finish till late last night but will get a pic of him once he is in the garage alongside Sonic later.

Got the garage ready for Sonic and Freddie

Moved what was already at the house for the garage) onto a bench
Posted Image

then decided to rip the bench down instead! (going to build a more sturdy better positioned one later on)
Posted Image

Then went back to the old flat and cleaned out the garage and loaded up the van... its a bit full!! I have come to the conclusion that I have to much junk!
Posted Image

Loaded up Sonic onto the towing dolly:

Hanna and Freddie ready to follow

Hanna took this pic at the lights, perhaps I should have also put 12s on the rear, the back was hanging a little low and the exaust did actually catch at least once. Han said there was a few sparks on one particular bump! >_<

Bit of a tidy up still needs doing, will get more pics later.

I have also found my angle grinder. So can get to work taking the whole front off over the winter ready for new A panels and scuttle and a new removable front.

Shall I go for a metal front or Carbon fiber?

No matter what I do I will want to keep the commercial front grille. So if I have a metal front I will get the non heritage one as it has the commercial grille, if I go for the Carbon Fiber front I will get the heritage look grille and have it blended in.

So, which removable front to go for Carbon Fiber or metal?

Plan of what needs to be done:

- Buy new panels (front wings and commercial front panel)
- Have above welded into a metal removable front and painted
- Buy hinge kit for flip up front and brace bars
- Have both A panels replaced and painted
- Maybe scuttle replaced
- Possible engine transplant and new exaust if new engine fitted
- Fit 7.5" brakes
- Maybe new steering rack. Not sure if to fit a quick rack or not (thoughts on this people? Going to be running 10x7 steelies)
- Fit new tinted golf mk1 headlights into new metal front
- Fit new clear indicators into new metal front
- Secure air horns and number plate to new metal front
- Fit new wing mirrors to new metal front (either existing painted black or buy new ones)
- Fit newly painted bumpers to metal front (painted black with over riders and side bars, also in black)
- Fit new front to car
- Have the steelies banded
- Replace 10x6 wellers with the 10x7 banded steelies
- Fit new rear corner bumpers that have been painted black
- Fit tailgate cover turnbutton fasters
- New dials
- New seats
- New headlining and frame
- New dash liner, door cards and check straps
- Finally get steering wheel recovered and fit
- Stereo of some kind and fit Amp
