Its only a faff if your car came with an airbag steering wheel and you change it to one without....plus the dreaded insurance ramifications

Insurance is a good point! I don't think the MOT man would mind the wheel. Oh well I like the MPi wheel too for it's MPiness.

It hurt to do this. I drilled a hole. Ten of them, actually. But it's for the greater good!

Just waiting for the paint on them to try before I can carry on.

Managed to get some time on the car between the heavy rain showers. Even though it's in the garage, I didn't want to go outside.

Door cappings are done. I even drilled all the holes in the right places!

Mini Cooper interior by bcjamesmini, on Flickr

There are a couple more bits I'd like to add to the interior but I really like this addition, despite my initial reservations. It's taken me that long to find a set that I had better like them really!

They are Rover ones from a car the same age as mine so I can forgive any ageing as it suits the car perfectly.

One issue is that my door handles sit very close to them. The handles wobble a little bit, meaning on the drivers side it can touch the capping. The handle is secured to the mechanism bit, it seems to be play in the mechanism unit itself. I have some 1mm alu plate so I might make a little spacer to go under the handle and push it outward a touch. 1mm shouldn't be noticeable but will give safe clearance.

And despite all the ups and down, the gearbox that still rattles despite a 'rebuild', me spilling mcdonalds strawberry milkshake on the seats yesterday, I do love my little car =]

New registration plates have been ordered to replace my faded old ones too.

Thanks guys, I love her too  I feel bad she's sat outside in all this rain!

I've just been sat in the car waiting for my client to not turn up for training and it is a nice place to sit =] I must lean against my door when I'm driving because now I've lost 10mm or so to my side I feel like I'm being pushed to the left.

Brave man, sorry I never got the photos for the cappings to you, but good on you for gettng it sussed - make sure your window seals are good, or that laquer will peal right off faster than you might think.
