We had an amazing weekend testing the car. It´s becoming quicker and quicker :) We are still playing quite a bit with geometry although the car feels now very well balanced we are still having a massive problem with the front tyres lifting as shown in the picture. We know an ARB is a need, but roll is not that bad to cause all this lifting. Can anyone help with this?
Hopefully we will have fitted the rear ARB before the next testings.
Another comment from the driver was the feeling of the brake pedal. We are running metro 4pots at the front (would love to upgrade but no money at the moment) and yellow tag brake pump. The travel of the pedal is to much, almost up to the floor and the feedback is very little. He says he is either full on the brakes or nothing is happening.
Well we hope someone on here knows how to improve this ;)
Thankss
On your handling issue, the front wheel is not actually lifting, it's because the front coilover conversions used on the front of minis have extremely limited droop before bottoming out. These coilover conversions only have a complete travel range of about 2.5" or so before hitting the bumpstop, therefore to have a reasonable say 2" in compression, you only have 1/2" of droop which is no where near enough.
I would, lift the rear end up, possibly uprate the coilsprings at the rear to a heavier poundage, not much just a bit, fit the ARB as you suggest, take the coilovers of the front and replace them with coilovers with more travel, at least 4", this will mean probably changing the top bracket as well.
As for the brakes, I would check the brake cylinders are all moving freely and not sticking, and make sure there is no air trapped anywhere, the 4 pots can be very differcult to bleed completely sometimes
Cheers
