We had an amazing weekend testing the car. It´s becoming quicker and quicker :) We are still playing quite a bit with geometry although the car feels now very well balanced we are still having a massive problem with the front tyres lifting as shown in the picture. We know an ARB is a need, but roll is not that bad to cause all this lifting. Can anyone help with this?

Hopefully we will have fitted the rear ARB before the next testings.

Another comment from the driver was the feeling of the brake pedal. We are running metro 4pots at the front (would love to upgrade but no money at the moment) and yellow tag brake pump. The travel of the pedal is to much, almost up to the floor and the feedback is very little. He says he is either full on the brakes or nothing is happening.

Well we hope someone on here knows how to improve this ;)

Thankss

On your handling issue, the front wheel is not actually lifting, it's because the front coilover conversions used on the front of minis have extremely limited droop before bottoming out. These coilover conversions only have a complete travel range of about 2.5" or so before hitting the bumpstop, therefore to have a reasonable say 2" in compression, you only have 1/2" of droop which is no where near enough.

I would, lift the rear end up, possibly uprate the coilsprings at the rear to a heavier poundage, not much just a bit, fit the ARB as you suggest, take the coilovers of the front and replace them with coilovers with more travel, at least 4", this will mean probably changing the top bracket as well.

As for the brakes, I would check the brake cylinders are all moving freely and not sticking, and make sure there is no air trapped anywhere, the 4 pots can be very differcult to bleed completely sometimes

Cheers
David

Thanks a lot for your extensive respond David.

Its true there is very little drop on these coilovers but we haven´t seen any other minis with the same issues as ours... Why? We are going to start by fitting both front and rear ARB as these should really help us controlling the roll on the Mini.

Further on we would like to know what rear spring poundage other hayabusa Minis have. Anyone can tell? This would be our second step but we would like to keep the springs as soft as possible to allow more grip and feedback to the driver. Being such a short car it´s difficult to catch when the back decides to overtake you ;)

We will re-bleed the brakes once again but I remember the guys spending more than an hour last time we modify the brake circuit. Any suggestions on how to do it "the proper" way?

Hope you guys can help us out and give us some further tips please!!

Quick teaser while we work on the video:

Thaaaank you all!!

There is a new short video of the project:

Please help us out with the previously posted questions (coilovers, poundage & brake bleeding);)

Cheers

still no front ARB fitted at the time this pic was taken, right?
Looking at this pic it is quite clear why the front wheels lift during cornering.
You have not enough suspension travel.

Re your bleeding problems, yeah bleeding brakes/clutch can be tricky at times.
The main rule is: always start from the bleed point further away from the brake fluid reservoir/master cylinder.
Failing to do so will leave lots of air bubbles in the system, causing a spongy pedal feel etc.

Thanks for the tips :)

Here is our new video:

We are currently fitting a buffle sump + a accusump system in order to keep the oil pressure stable when cornering. Some more picture will come :)

Let me know how the accusump works. I had the same problem but I discovered it to late. I am adding a road race oil pan and oil bypass system to my new engine. If you look at my thread you can see pictures of the oil by pass the takes the oil to a remote filter and cooler.

Thanks Birdman. We have installed a baffle plate in the sump and we just got our accusump and pressure senor to monitor it while racing. We did test the car at Jarama in July and all went fine, other than loosing the brakes after 3-4 laps due to overheating.

We invited Miguel Angel de Castro, profesional GT driver to test our Mini and got a very useful feedback from him. He was very pleased with our work and pointed out what needed to be developed.

We run about 20 laps with out any mechanical problems other than the brakes and set our fastest lap at 2:02 mins and a top speed of 194 km/h. NOw with all the telemetry system we can look after the lost time. Next time out we hope to be able to run below the 2:00 mark.

View pictures of the day, and as usual a video will follow in a few weeks.

(problems uploading, will follow)

Thaaanks

Next jobs are as follow:

- installation of accusump and oil pressure sensor (got them)
- wiring wideband and ecu sensors to data logger (only time needed)
- new air filter + naca ducts (got them)
- stiffer clutch springs to match bec (got them)
- front and rear ARB (scrapyard + modify)
- new slicks (sponsor)
- modify gear lever (only time needed)

- brakes upgrade!!! this is what worries us the most. We would neeed a new pump and green stuff at the front as a minimum, but we are looking forward to some nice wilwood or simiar brake kit. Any suggestions on this one? We are out of money...

Cheers, N10 team

On eBay at moment, 280939520073 or 280939434889 may go for a good price. Not sure about postage options though. Luke
