Graham the doors look terrific. Managed to see your video. That's impressive!! So you don't need to send the 8mm film. What a cheek!
What a shame about the rust after all that hard work. We clean up all these bits and its going to come back whatever! As usual enjoy the read and the pictures. Your pictures are superb.

as always graham loving your work the doors look great. on the passengers side could you not add another shim to move it back to close up the gap and have even gaps all round? also on the primer side of thing you should try a epoxy mastic like this http://www.rust.co.u...xy-body-primer/# you can then leave the profect for months with no rusting at all and can be over painted with celly or 2k high build products or just overpainted with topcoat it would save a lot of time with taking it back to bare another couple of times before you paint it

I am thinking of rubbibng the panels back again, should as I said before be easier than first time round, primering and rollering some thinned top coat on. Hopefully the thinned paint will dry quickly enough and if the finish isn't to my liking I can flat back and redo, but there will be no rust waiting for me, or that's the plan anyway !!

The subframe is all but out again, so will be lifting it onto an externally built up subby, and rolling it into position with the cab lowered back over and praying lol. Will be posting pics of the shambles that may well result !!

Oooo, you want to do one of your own now? There's stuff i'd do different if I did another one!

Full inner wings rather than flitch panels and front half inner wings for example!

Hi all,

long time no post,  was too embarrassed to see how far down the list I had got but it will have been page 10 ish !!   I have not been idle though,  wifey wanted an extension in this year to replace the crap conservatory we had and this is where I am up to.

All the hard digging done but it does take time so today as my brickie only works for me as and when he has time, (mates rates and all that),  I felt I had to get back on the mini,  paint !!

As I said in my last picture post,  Winter had not been kind and this was everywhere

Every panel had it on so I got my fleabay DA sander to work with some 240 grit and took it back to metal,  etched and ready for paint.  I was going to spray paint it but have decided it needs protecting asap and rollering seemed the least messy way to get some paint on and keep the rust out.

Not very good first panel,  very orange peely,  but I will be flatting it after every coat.  Here goes

As I said the orange peel is horrendous and a lot of wet sanding lays ahead I fear,  still it will all come right eventually.  The rear panel went better and the orange peel was less

It is taking a bit to get the hang of it to be honest,  but each rollering is an improvement.  Only the two panels done as a test really and I need some foab brushes to get in the tight bits but pleased to have some on.

Back in the game !!!

Graham

Have told wifey that I need a 'man shed' for my projects after the build lol,  not holding my breath Carlos !!

Have been asking a question and it does indeed look like I have put too much paint on and lots of sanding is indeed ahead.  It is as I said a practice coat so will adjust the next coat on the other rear qtr panel.

However,  it has been sooooooo long a project I will drive it with pineapple peel if needed lol.

Graham

Maybe thin the paint a little bit more to reduce the orange peel. Should settle better. Worth a try!

Have decided to experiment on the remaining panels to see what works best,  then have a good rub down and put some more coats on.  50:50 is as thin as I thought practical and have been told to try thicker mix,  very hard to get a feel for it so will play around next good sun.
