lol Darren, been toooooooo long.
Inside is mint !!! This is my main motivation to slop some paint on so I at least have the shell protected. Will be upping the ration next time. Hoping to get the rest of the shell first coated next sunny day.

Graham I like the colour and the finish is fine. There are ones on the forum with mirror like finishes but we don't need that. Just a bit of good colour. The car does look smashing. I want to see how this goes as I had planned on rollering but ended up rattlecanning. In some ways I wish I'd kept to it.
That is going to be quite an extension. Your a busy man. I would say you deserve a man shed. I always thought you had the trousers on but I'm seeing wee cracks in your stories that you have put up here. I think Jan has you well under that thumb, just like Anne has me. But we love them.

Thanks for the comments everyone, they always help by making you think about he direction you are going before disaster strikes !!
lol Hugh, you may have a point about the wifes !! I have however been looking over your painting and although you do have some orange peel, it is amateur peel compared to mine. Have had a go at flatting it back in a small patch with some 800 w&d paper and flats back ok. More coats and sanding will bring it up I think, am a bit more settled now I have tried a sand following the first attempt.
Will report back after some more progress.

I have waited this long to get it right, a few days of sanding wont stop me lol !! I too am disappointed about the peel but it's all a learning curve and this is just my next lesson to learn.

Hi all,
bottom of page 3 so quickly, can tell the better weather in upon us and work is starting in earnest again so better get on with it lol.
Sunnyish day so out with the da sander and paint.
Started with taking off the surface rust again around the door apertures and front and tiger sealing the scuttle and front panel joins.
Looke a bit messy, as my sealant work usually is, (just can't get the hang of it, never have), but it is smothed off and feathered out so should look fine. I also did the bumper panel lip and found a gap in the door hinge panel area so did a line there too
I looked over the first attempts and in places the orange peel was poor but in others it had settled better and had a shine to it
The rubbing down I mentioned earlier came out well in daylight too for the couple of minutes I spent on it in darkness !
I then set about rollering and foam brushing the rest of the rear section up to A panels
I seemed to be getting the hang of it as it was showing less peel and more depth than my first attempt, still mixing at about 50/50 with thinners. I don't think that with rustoleum it makes a great deal of difference getting mixes exactly spot on ratio wise. Too thick more flatting, too thin, more coats and then flatting so will continue with my ratio as is for now. When I really get the hang of it I will up the paint a little.
This is where I left it
Let the sun get it nearly touch dry, covered up and as the last sheet went on, the heavens opened and we had a hail storm with thunder and lightning, bloody British weather lol.
feeling more optimistic at present about finishing.

Thanks Alex,
thinking of at least 4, will be flatting back well after this initial coat is complete then see how the next coat goes on, may do two more before flatting again then a final coat and final flat and polish. That's the theory anyway lol. I recon when I have a good day I can get a full coat done in a day so could be quite quick if I get the weather.
