Good to see you back at work on the Mini Carlos. Carlos, I'd go non-genuine for the front end. It will save a packet but it will be harder to fit - but a challenge!! I'm saying this very quietly as some of the guys on this forum will go mad at me for suggesting it. Its what I did anyway! That rear quarter looks great!

All the best Hugh

Hugh, I've saved up for a genuine front end, all the rest were repair panels and got modified so I'm not too bothered, but if the front end looks rubbish I might as well chuck the whole thing away!

Hopefully it'll be worth the money

Just a little bit more work and the near side will be deseamed!

It's all welded on the inside so it isn't going to go anywhere!

It's taken in the garage on the phone, not to be too geeky, but the camera meters the light on the panel, because there is loads of light coming through the front door, that's hugely over exposed.

I'll take my D90 down tomorrow and take some decent pics of the panel and the welding on the inside!

Graham, this is the welding on the inside of the rear 1/4.

It's welded on the inside everywhere that can be reached

Hopefully this will stop it going anywhere or cracking

Tomorrow afternoon is going to consist of cleaning the bottom of the car as the neighbours are on holiday so the noise wont disturb them.

Thanks for that Carlos, did wonder what you did on the inside. My neighbours are away but I think to avoid me !! They are teachers and have listened to me strip the mini of paint with a grinder for a few weeks now !! Clean away tomorrow !!

Graham, what do you think?

I think this is better than doing it all from the outside!

Absolutely Carlos, I think that seam being weakened so much from the removal of the lip needs the double welding. I was thinking this is how you did it and I'm sure it will be strong enough.

Carlos I wouldn't be brave enough to deseam mine! Good on you. It just amazes me just how strong welds are! I'm sure it will be fine.
