What filler are you going to use Carlos? The one I've used on my bootlid is called Isopon Metalik Filler which is slightly harder as it has aluminium in it & nice & smooth. You can get from Halfords. Looking good so far by the way, it's a nice feeling when you have made some progress isn't it.

I haven't decided on what filler to use and would appreciate anyones thoughts, comments, advice etc.

It is good to make progress, next job is to fix the roof, then the car is coming out, the garage is getting tidied, then I'm going to put the car in the other way around to get to the Near side

The excellent welding is the bits my mate does! My welding is anything but excellent

Just trying to decide whether to take the roof gutter off as well as the deseaming!

Thanks for the comments

I wouldn't do the roof gutter as I have heard that you can get water in the car doors from it. You could do the front & back of the gutter & leave the sides as you'll still deflect the water from the doors & also smooth the airflow over the car (the main point of deseaming) ;-)

I'm deseaming it because I like the look!
I'm tempted to leave the roof gutter!

I'll go for that then, I'm a little way off needing filler though!

Carlos long time and no contact - my fault entirely. That rear quarter looks smashing. It is a satisfying repair to do. Keep up the great work. Wish I'd been consulting the forum on filler instead of being depressed!!

The trouble with deseaming the roof is that water runs down the side of the mini so when you've stopped to open the door, it drips onto whoever is getting out. I don't think the problem letting water in. That's the job of the door seals.

Deseaming looks like it's gone very well. Keep at it.

Today was roof repair day.

Just to remind you
Posted Image
This was the issue, there was a bit of foam under this which must've absorbed water and held it against the metal causing it to rot through.

I got a piece from a member on here, cut all the rotten part out, cut the panel to fit the gap.

It took loads of lining up to get it just right.

Welded in
It was then ground down. It'll be as good as new soon

There's a tiny bit of welding to do around the offside arch (which should use up the last of the gas) then it'll be on to the other near side rear 1/4.

Yeah, it was such a strange one!

Just ordered the NSR 1/4 panel too!
