Welder all fixed with a longer, thicker earth.
And it welds beautifully

Todays update.
I've kind of fitted a steering column, and wheel.
I say kind of, it appears I need to fit the pedal box before I can fit it properly ??
I've also kind of fitted the drivers door, I need to take a shim off the top hinge though, because it's not quite correct.
Depending upon what time I get to bed tonight I may get back in there tomorrow.

Hi Carlos,
What are the corner braces you've got between the Wing and scuttle? Interested to know what you are planning
Cheers
Chris

It's for the bonnet pins for the fibreglass bonnet. (although I may be having second thoughts)

Ah I see, what bonnet pins were you thinking of using? Do you think you could do it with a steel bonnet?

If I decide to use a steel bonnet I'll cut them off and fit articulated hinges.
Not quite sure at the moment, the fit of the fibreglass bonnet I've got is rubbish, it's like the bonnet is too short.

Looking good!
Yes, the pedal box needs to go in to allow the column bracket to fit properly

I decided to refurb the pedal box today, I thought a quick going over with a wire cup, followed by a bit of black engine enamel and it'd be better than new.
Unfortunately the thread on the captive bolts are very poor
So I've removed them all ready to weld new ones in.
Also, the welding on the pedal box is rubbish, so I'm going to improve the welding where I can when I weld the new bolts in.
Here it is all stripped
And in weld through primer ( I've run out of ordinary primer)
And the clutch pedal all painted up
(rubbish photo)
I wont get anything done for a few days now as I'm working

I've welded new bolts onto the pedal box and started painting it, but I ran out of engine enamel. I really like using it as it gives a good finish.
I'm also tempted to go with a steel bonnet. The fibreglass one is a rubbish fit, and it's never going to be right.
This is literally just popped on, I've just bought it.

You bought a brand new bonnet!

You bought a brand new bonnet!
Sort of, someone had it in their shed, they sold their mini ages ago and it was just lying around.
It was still all wrapped up.

I've taken the lip off the bonnet and I'm really pleased with the look.
The only issue is, I don't know where the bonnet hinges are
I've done a bit more sorting of parts which I'm going to sell in the new year. I'm waiting for engine enamel in the post before I can finish the pedal box and get it fitted.
