got my webers on my head and i got most of my parts at home were i will build it now just gonn bring the rest back with me on thursday and then get cracking with it .

gonna refit my bucket setas to the car tomorrow i think and look at getting my a 032r's of as they are completley bold now, such good tyres just wear to danm fast

any one know what the a008's are like?

got 008's on mine, there not bad but certainly not as good as the 32's i had before...car with an engine like yours, assuming you want to use its potential id just suck it up and pay the extra for the 32's you cant be cheap on the tyres when youve spent so much on the rest ;)

yeah thats true
well theres no need to get the tyres atm so ill wait till im back froms ea and do it then.

should have a fair bit saved up with not being able to spend my wages for 3 months, and getting sea pay, should easily clear th 2 k a month bracket.

i have a roll cage in my garage but im unsre about it, i know the door bars and harness bar are saftey devices and are fia approved but im not sure about the rest.

i think it would be safer if i sold the cage and just bought a full saftery devices cage.

mini93 are your using one of there multi point bolt in cages arent you in your rally car?

becasue im sure id get away with a 6 point cage with door bars and a harness bar for what i want?

nope, iv got a rollcentre multi point weld in jobby. If i didnt though safety devices would be my 1st choice for a bolt in thing. Except, id look into getting the minisport type one, rather than getting what is essecialy 2 seperate kits, the front half and back half. if you get the multi point from mini sport the triangulation for the back stay is further back meaning you can move your seat further back, what someone in our club has and its much more superior. rear cross, harness bar, door bars, dash bar too i believe and i also think theres a facility to add a toe bar, running along, over the exhaust tunnel... but of course thats just what id have ;) its upto you of course (but if your spending that cash a weld in is quite appealing as long as your not having to pay for fitting)

yeah thast true, but my welding skills are not to that kind of standard, my welding looks like a pidgen pooed all of my fresh sheets of metal, and it has the ability to with hold teh strength of a single sheet of a4.

if i welded that cage it would just rattle lose and hurt me.

ive got plenty of time to thing what im going to have done to the car, first thing is get the engine in and runnign and then look at doing things from the point on.

what i do have is a completeley spare shell sat on my back yard doing nothing i think it just needs a patch in the boot and the heel board looking at, outher than than the paint is good, and i ahve almost all the parts to build it up so i could do something with that

right my bearings turned up so i managed to get my crank back in and 3 of my pistons attached and its spins :)
end float is good

i just got to wait for my 4th piston to come back and then ill fit that and im nearly there.

picking my gearbox up tomorrow, and i will get a full gasket set so tuesday i can start building it all up.

oh an i also managed to get the timming set, what a pain in the ass that is.

the way im lookign at it, is that i have all the parts and there all finished so acturally building the unit up shouldnt be to time consuming, and i should have any probllems as long as i dont rush.

slow and stedy wins the race.

so ill up date tomorrow when i get my gear box back, ill post pics as well

Cool build thread, did you sort out how you were going to get the vacume for the megajolt fitted.

I'am building an engine similar spec to yours with the same head and webers I have thought about drilling and taping the head just cant bring myself to do it, Whats your plans?

Loving the spec on this engine mate! Out of interest how come your going with carbs rather than throttle bodies and full blown injection?

Could fit small spacers between the carbs and head, then drill and tap those?

because i havnt a clue were to start with electrics and getting an ecu to play ball and that lot,

so i thought id just play it safe for now and stick to what i know.

i know throttle bodies are ment to give a smouther ride and and can make the lumpy can seem a little smother

im gonna see what the weber are like and play with them and if im not happy ill sell them on and ill switch to throttle bodies and do it that way.

atm my bed room is full of engine parts, mums getting mad as were ment to be trying to sell the house.
and my room is full of parts i have a mini shell sat on our drive 1 garage full of parts to rebuild and anouther garage with my outher mini in. ive been told as soon as im back from sea im to get the shell built up and to sort out my parts

shame im not about for riv run or i would of put it all in the trailer and got my dad to bring it up to riv run and sold it all,
as i only live about 20 mins away, and i got things like a full roll cage, dorr bars and harness bar
1380 block with pistons
276 cam and oil pump
isky followers
gear box
mpi head
stage 5 head 37 inlets 29 exh 21cc ported and polished
lamp pod
3 or 4 sets of arches, group 7's or 5's
group 2 wides x2
weber 40 just been rebuilt -chokes and jets
a gear box pluys the gears to build a secound one
assembled flywheel with rally clutch plate and orange diaprham
rac sump guard never fitted
fibreglass dash
works dash
hiff 44 with cone filter
2 x weber inlet manifolds
rc4o twin dtm back box and center pipe
maniflow side exit back box 1.75
plus tuns extra just sat in boxes in my garage

shame im at sea soon :/
