So yes i've gone mad!

you have indeed :) looking forward to see how this all comes together, i have a similar challenge on my hands with my dads pickup, been thinking about how to tackle it for ages, pretty much same condition as the one you have, probably slightly worse though. apart from the rear bed and main floors what else have you got to replace?

Thanks it's going to be a big one I think. Yep done quite a bit more but the cold has been slowing me down a little. Will have an update tomorrow evening hopfully.

Oh don't give him to much praise he spends most of his time in bed dreaming about his car rather than working on it. And i taught him eveything he knows :-

Nice project - looks like you got the skills (oh, and not forgetting the backing of formidable buying power of a woman!) to make this a superb rebuild!

Like the planned style as well, I am thinking of something similar - though my pickup won't be ready 'til next year :shifty:

Another update from this afternoons work and a few pictures of some previous work that I haven't shown yet.

Today's stuff,

I made up some extra braces off the framework to hold the heel board in place. This means I can now cut the rear quaters and wheel arches off with the shell still staying flat.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Not sure how impressed Emily was at first

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Just to prove I do work! Drilling the spot welds so I can save the arch stiffeners (thought it may be nice to keep some of the original car!!)

Posted Image

Simple!
Posted Image

Also saved the rear light panels, these will be repaired.

Posted Image

All trimmed down and ready for the bottems to be repaired but I wont do this until the load bay and quaters are on.
Posted Image

I've also started to make a piece to repair the bottem 1cm of the rear bulkhead. It's peppered with tiny holes so i've decided to replace the bottem rather than try welding them all up as it's bound to be very thin.

Posted Image

Now a couple pictures from before the floor went in. I replaced the bottem section of the front bulkhead/toeboard as this had gone quite rusty and thin on both sides and then I replaced the frame stiffeners as these are quite thin as standard and had cracked. I've now made them double the width and double the thickness.

And a couple pictures of some more bits!!

Quite an update there, more to follow tomorrow
