so realisticly, youre sayin keep the log book, and ring acar later useing new shell n doner parts, because that aint youre 8 points asbugle was talkin about, because there is nothin left of that carAnd -who's going to check this - or even question it ? You don't need to tell anyone about a re-shell, you just get it MOTd and then tax it! But yes - ideally - you should use EVERYTHING from the Cooper - except the old rotten shell of course. But one subby looks pretty much like any other subby........

What is the difference between what bmcecosse described, and a heritage shell then? Bmcecosse said to use everything from the cooper bar the rotten shellso realisticly, youre sayin keep the log book, and ring acar later useing new shell n doner parts, because that aint youre 8 points asbugle was talkin about, because there is nothin left of that car
Using a rust free shell to replace a shell that is beyond economical repair. Does it really matter who stripped it/rebuilt it and how long it took?

a second had shell already has a identity so you can't legally remove it and fit a different one

on yuore posting at 9 pm you didnt say anew shell??????????It's perfectly legal to rebuild with a NEW shell. The parts will still be available in a few years - taken back from the City if necessary when it rots away....... The point is - as long as the logbook remains registered with DVLA - the 'car' can be resurrected anytime just by fitting a NEW shell - getting an MOT - and a tax disc. Simples!! It's very certainly not legal to use a second-hand shell............

with all legalities being said how many people posting here break speed limits at some point and in doing so are infact breaking the law themselves.... "but sure who was there to see it" attitude comes into play lol... you may have a economicaly affordable option in mind for the second v5 but its worth holding onto i supose....

in the past i have seen lots of shells for sale without any vin/v5 available.... so should it also be illegal to sell such shells for reshelling purposes because as sujested above that intended use is infact illegal?????

There's nothing wrong with selling a shell, nor using one, it's how you use it which determines legality...
And don't compare a Criminal offence with a driving offence, they are completely different.
