also on the note of electric cars their way to expensive to start with, which means a huge amount of people don't even consider them.

i need fuel

for work i'm a self employed electrician and no VAT registered there is no way i could carry my tools on public transport to get to work

that is unless buses start to come with big boots and a roof rack :gimme:

LMAO, my Dad had this out with a customer who said we should try and use public transport as much as possible for our work, (security and electrical, so pretty much the same as yourself) After a lengthy discussion of how we couldn't use public transport to get between appointments, and her insisting that the you can get a series of busses anywhere, he actually took her out to the van and sain, "where's all this going to fit on a bus"

She backed down after that

Bit off topic, but thats what gets me aswell, where all these companies are bringing out electric "enviromentally friendly" cars to save the the environment and cut fuel useage. The thing with these though is where does all the electric come from in the first place :S oo yeah a power station which uses thusands of tonnes of coal

Yep you have Las Vegas lit up like its daytime, china pumping out co2 faster than they can produce it, yet were continually told to turn lights, appliances, tv off stand by etc to save electric. Yet it’s perfectly fine to plug your car in over night to charge up to save the planet. :gimme:

The prius for instance, was acctually a massive disaster as they were having to keep shipping the batteries from japan to america then back to japan and back to america etc. If there going to make electric cars, then why not have solar panels on the roof and stuff to charge the batteries, and dynomo's in the wheels to also charge the batteries as your driving along. + ou can then have a KERS system to further charge the batteries. Its not rocket science

KERS is not what you think it is. It had a battery and a motor connected to the gear box. It never recharged, just had limited use per lap and was then reset at the end of each lap just like the nos recharges on your PS3 games

Allot of new cars now have regenerative braking and other technologies.
The issue with the prius is that the metal was mined in africa, shiped to america to be processed and then shipped to japan who assembled the batteries and then shipped out to all the factories around the world.

Solar pannels wont work as they are no where near efficent enough.

And to be honest, renewable energy is allot more complicated than hydrogen, oxygen and a spark. Rocket science is surprisingly easy in comparison to allot of things.

another point i've thought about electric cars. which everyone else seems to have over looked.

if both me and my neighbour had electric cars, whats to stop him or me for that matter, unplugging the others car and getting some free juice??

as lets face it 90% of car owners dont have garage.

i cant see the government/local councils or car companies paying for every car on every street to have a designated space where you can charge your car. (plugs coming out of pavements??)

The nearest I could get any car without upsetting the neighbours to the house/plug socket is 35 meters away. Suppose we could just run live extension leads all over the place lol.

Burny, i didnt mean KERS as in F1 type of KERS where they get a boost, i was meaning taking the wasted energy of the braking and re directing it to charge a series of batteries.

Solar panels would work, it would still charge the batteries whilst your driving, and thenonce you have parked up will top the batteries up :gimme:

The hydrogen powered cars are the best way forward. If you run out of water, you just stop near a river and fill ya car back up  SORTED.

Is it wrong that i want one of these?

And i agree highly that laziness has got a lot to do with people moaning. I used to ride 6.5 miles on my BMX, purely to ride somewhere all day for leisure a couple years ago, then ride 6.5 miles back.
Now i have the mini and a job, i rarely have enough time to go out on my bike and im generally very tired after work, and the car is there to use for the odd journey, so i use that instead of taking the effort to use a bike. I used to ride 3 miles uphill on my bmx to work on a morning shortly after i left school in any weather. Of course now if i had the choice i would take the car. I need to start getting that type of mentality out of my head, although come the warmer weather, ill jump back on my bike again or walk.
