And the figure for the above spec is...
A very fun engine to drive, should give about 60hp and a good torque.
Will go to the rollers to tune the megajolt, can anyone recommend a good map for this set up? I'm thinking in put the Aldon yellow map and start from where....

MG Metro cast LCB
MG Metro cam
Standard 1275 head from old Metro
reprofiled valve stems
MG Metro valve springs
MG Metro 10 degree distributer
Lightened flywheel and backplate (Machine Shop)
MG Metro inlet manifold
HIF 38 with modified needle
1275 air filter housing and filter
Metro gearbox with (3.6 diff)
Engine put together from bits from scrap cars, dont know output as couldn'd afford rolling road but the Mini would outdrag 1275's easy and would pull strong up to 95mph on the speedo which was probably about 90.
Revs peaked at 7500rpm and the power came in gradually from 2000 being strongest after 3500 then tailing off at about 6000.
Lost bottom end torque but gained it at top end, 998 should spin wheels on half throttle pulling out of junctions but big valve head spoiled all that. It would have been far better with modified 998 head keeping smaller inlet ports in my opinion.
Did put an 8 degree distributer on it off a Mini E that I scrapped and that improved the bottom end a bit by allowing more advance low down but it was a lovely car to drive, sounded great with the single big bore box and looked standard under the bonnet.

kent 276 camshaft
intensively modified Hs4 carb (to be swapped for an HS6) on a custom alloy inlet
twin box centre exit exhaust on a termotec wrapped LCB (on its last legs, to be swapped soon probably for a cooper freeflow)
lightened balanced flywheel
balanced crank
123 electronic ingition
plus a lot of other bits and bobs
Fuelling set up done with a lambda sensor before any event
dizzy curve selected before any event
cam timing checked before any event
I dont have power/torque figures as i havent rolling roaded it

From that i think my 998 tuning guide may be of use to you
PM me your email address mate.
Final spec for mine will be A+ block. standard 998 bore. twin hs2's, 12g295 ported big valve head. kent 276 cam, lightened and balanced flywheel with pre-verto clutch.
Central oil pickup and x-pin diff.
Should make 70-80 at the rollers.
Vizard did one similar without the flywheel etc and that got about 72 and was quicker than a metro turbo.
This seems the most simple as I haven't a clue lol just like to read and learn, am reading a vizard book (how to modify your mini) taken from a library in 1990 ( before I were born lol) what's the cost for the stuff to do this?
