I got both hub's off in the end,the o/s hub came of really easily but the other side took a bit of force, still cant get the drive shaft's out all the way tho.

I can hear the slush as i pull them in and out and they move about 4" or so but they dont come all the way out.

Also, there are 2 bar's underneath for the gear's,one has a nut & bolt but the other one doesn't.Does that just pull out?

cheer's :)

you see at the gear box end of the rod, there is a larger peice on the rod? This is linking the rod to the box and is held in with rollpins.

You need to put it in reverse and using a suitable punch, hammer the rollpin out.

A bit of degreaser so i could see the pin and putting it in reverse did the trick ...lol

The engine and subframe are now removed,im quite chuffed with myself to be honest because ive done it all on my own (with help from tmf...lol) because my mate didnt answer his phone.I got my father in law round to help me move the shell but that doesn't count :tumble:

Ive not had much time on the mini due to decorating,I say decorating but it's more like repairing when you have kid's lol

The wiring loom is now removed,as is the steering colum, pedal box and all the stuff from around the dash.

Im going to strip the engine bay and have a go at painting it with can's.

Ive also bought a cone compressor so i can strip the subframe ready for powder coating

if you mean the discs that claim to remove only paint and rust (cant remember there name at the minute) then dont bother with them, they work but only last 5 minutes at most. your better off getting a knotted wire wheel (cup type) they do the same thing and take ages until there unusable.

good luck with the project (Y)

Benjy 18 is right on that one knoted wire wheel all the way. And for pannels a nice orbital sander is good, I like the air powerd ones but you need a decent compressor.

Im just in st.annes not to far. what area are you in?

Hay not to far from me Im on church road corner of morland Rd only round the corner. Like I say just give us a shout if you ever need a hand.

Suprised you havent seen me bombing around the place. I often go that way past spar and down clitheroe Rd to get to the Girl freinds house.
