We strip, put them in a cleaning tank and then bead blast to remove rust, scale & paint, come up like new >_<

Before I had the machinery, I used wire brushes or scrapers, however all of these can and will damage the seats which will then need to be recut.

YOu said your valves were pitted ? what have you done to get over this situation ??

Just seen the pic of the semi cleaned head. Those chambers have had a bit of work done on them for sure. Have you got any pics of the ports? Did the engine come with a carb or carbs? Id be whiping the gearbox off the block next. You might be in for a pleasent surprise!!

yeah im making my way down to the gearbox slowly but surely, its my first time so any tips?
and i will take some more pics today of the ports.

it came with twin carbs, ill take a pic of those as well and need to clean them as well!!!

i havent gotten over this situation yet as my mate is coming in today and we will have a look at the damage!!

but im gonna take some more pics today and start disassembling the carb!!!

out of curiousity how did you clean it up??
ive got 2 12g940 heads to clean up but dont know what to use.


used a very fine sand paper, between 800 and 1200...
and for the outside i will use a wire brush and a new lick of paint!!
