yeah dog they are sort of simular but bigger lol! my front end will still be steel so you may still get close to the weight!

you seen how much the ARP bolt kits are! gonna have to spend nearly £150 on bolts.

clutch kit and pistons should arrive on monday, gotta say im impressed with MED so far good service any way. spose they should be for the amount of money there taking from me!

just got back from a 200 mile road trip in RAFY my other mini, top speed 82 MPH. excellent!

any way

went to minidaves and got a spi front subframe! good condition and still had half the suspension on it too! now i need to seam weld it and lightweight it too!

then went to mini spares and maxed out on the buget again, i got:

rear subframe
facet fuel pump kit
parts to convert to pre verto clutch
silicon hose kit
front floor plan for patches
hardened diff pin
ARP stainless manifold studs (very very nice bit of kit!)
grille

and loads of other little bits

nearly got everything to finish the car now just got to bloody get on with it and build the dam thing!

today has been a good day for the car a few things happened:

the doors were collected for their reskinning

i bought some stainless nuts and bolts for things like the battery box and seats.

i phoned swiftune and ordered an sw5 kit with oil pump, followers, duplex vernier timing gears and double valve spring kit. swiftune were really helpful and full of advice for all aspects of the engine not just the cam. i now know to run a 10.2:1 compression ratio rather than the 10:1 and also got a few hints for the porting that will be done on the head.

i got a delivery from MED. i was really impressed with how quickly the order from MED was done.

last night i stated stripping down the radius arms, i couldnt belive how bad they were the outer bronze bush has all but disapered on one side, and i cant belive the car drove aswell as i did going but the state of the shaft. i think i need to get another arm to recon as the one i have is srap i think!

the engine is nearly up to spec now, just need to send the crank off to be worked, get some new bearings and gaskets and order the ARP bolts.

that and do all the machining.

came with:

double valve springs
h/c oil pump
followers
duplex alloy vernia timing gears

very nice.

also just finnished stripping down the radius arms few more parts to add to the parts list.

rear brake cylinders
back plates
radius for rebuilding

I would use a crosspin diff if you can stretch to it.

id use a lsd if i could stretch to it.

na hardend diff pin should be ok, its going to have about 90 bhp so i think it will cope.

i dont really like the design of the cross pin diffs, i do however very much like the the design of the quaife ATB LSD. just a tad on the epensive side.

cheers had a look at your pictures and your cars looking really good too.

i had to buy a new angle grinder today as my other one burnt out, thats the second one ive rhubarbed now! :D

went for a £16.99 special from B&Q and it came with 2 discs aswell, bargain!

ive now cut a big section out of the passenger front floor so i can weld in the new pan, and also cut a chink off the inner wing that needed doing. just need to do a bit more gringing and they will be ready to weld back up.

ive also ordered 12 meters of 38mm tube so i can add a few sections to my roll cage. i didnt go for CDS because of cost but as i am just using this tube to add to the existing safety device 6 point i think it will be ok. i will be adding:

door bars
dash bar
top diagonal (in the roof section)
rear diagonal (to make cross)
rear strut brace (to mount harnesses)
lower brace

its a bit complex but should be comprehensive, all the bits i am adding will be bolted on so i can add and remove them as i like and will make fitting a lot easier

went to the local powder coaters today. they are really good. they will definately be doing my parts. i have a box full of bits that i am going to take down there to be done black.

just need to find the right colour to do my cage and subframes in.

the quote for blasting the car was about £300 but i thnk i may be getting that done eslewhere cheaper.

my doors are finished aswell so should get them tommorrow.

If your thinking of just atatching your harnesses to the strut brace you may have some problems as reguards the law/MOT. Not saying it wont be safe, but there have been a lot of probs due to flimsy alloy strut braces which are strong enough for their job, but not the sideways forces that the harnesses put on them during a heavy shunt, they just fold. If your using steel then things will be different. Not sure on the legal position though, you may be better to use the rear seatbelt mounts if you have them. :withstupid:

Been watching this project with some interest, looks good and im lovin them wheels. :- Good luck with it. :withstupid:

I believe you can get reconditioned radius arms from Part Co. (Unipart) on exchange basis if thats any help to you.

Love all of the new shiny parts! Looks like it is going to be a great car to drive when it's done.

You can get em from MiniSpares as well (with the TMF discount :withstupid:), think they are either £30 exchange or £50 exchange.
