the roof is going to be bonded to the car, it does lose rigidity but that should be put back with the extensive cag that i am going to be fitting.

to actually fit the roof i will be cutting a 3 inch lip from the gutter and then bonding the skin onto this. its not quite as straght forward, but thats the basics.

i think dog would kill me if i painted it orange, although that is an awsome colour and car!

its got to be black i think, it as always the origional plan.

i did toy with the idea of doing the paint myself, but i just want the paintwork to be as good as possible.

big adam just wait theres gonna be a hell of a lot more than that to come!

Hey Mate looking sweet...

I left a 3 inch lip on my roof but the carbon skin still wouldn't sit right. Ended up cutting another inch off all round. All the strength in a mini roof is in the corners so with a cage it'll be ok.

Black is a good choice!!!

As for the ally doors a couple of posts back, i have to slam my doors as there so light the door rubber stops them from closing. they haven't twisted yet.

Keep it up tho, looking good!!

Ahhhhhh, sorry, got my doors mixed up! Didn't see that Dave had said ally! Thought he was talking about the CF doors from Curley, the ones we were talking about a page or two ago.

The problem with the Streetfighter (Alu skinned) doors is that they are more suseptible to dints.

oh well all the trouble can stop.

after thinking about what has been said about carbon doors and for speed as i want to get the car finished buy london to brighton, i have ordered a set of streetfighter doors.

i thought these would be the best compromise, and the should still fit fairly well as the frame will be the origional ones that were on the car, just going to go for carbon door cards inside these.

and to go with the doors i thought id better get some windows so have ordered some grey tint polycarb windows, mk1 front sliders and opening quarterlites. got the from plastics for performance, they were very helpfull, should be with me in the next couple of weeks.

my mate is selling his clubman off so i bought back my carbon dash from him as i cant affrod to do a miglia type dash, and also some new tie rods as mine were corroded.

i have decided that i am going to build my engine to the spec on the bill sollis 1380 builder DVD with a few extras, like a st1 ultralite billet flywheel kit.

spec will be

Block, crank rod and pistons

offset bored 73.5mm
smooth internals
new cam bearings
11 stud
acid clean
fully worked crank
omega 73.5mm 7cc offset dish pistons (Ordered from MED)

Head

12g940
drilled for 11 stud
unleaded seats
bronze guides
double valve springs
mini sport 1.5:1 roller rockers
ported
balanced reshaped chambers
10:1 compresion ratio
3 angle valve seats
30 degree cut back on valves

Camshaft

swiftune SW5
kent cams vernier adjustable alloy duplex gears
kent followers
kent oil pump

Flywheel/Clutch

MED ST1 clutch kit inc:
ultralight billet flywheel
and backplate
ap bonded friction plate
orange diaphram

HIf44 carb, modified to vizard spec with ITG air filter kit
mini spares manifold
maiflow stg2 exhaust manifold
Milltek 2 inch sigle box system
mini spares toothed belt drive kit
Straight cut drop gears
rebuilt gearbox
mini spares hardened and coated diff pin

i have now finished rebuilding my drive shafts and hubs and have just toched up the paint on them, i have also finished rebuilding my top arms as the shafts in them were shagged.

doors are stripped and i just need to pack them for postage.

on the actual body work i havent done much, ive cut off the drivers side sill, and cut out a section of rusty door step and welded in a new section. i have also cut a bit more out of the boot floor in prep for the carbon one.

and i am going to pick up my from subframe from minidaves tommorow and popping to mini spares to buy nother load of little bits and pieces that i need for the build.

Hummm... very simular spec'd engines... only you have a bigger bore!
This could get interesting down the track...
and yours will defo be much lighter than mine, as I've basically replaced bolt on stuff with FG/CF (doors, bonnet, frontend, bootlid....)
