i went to the scrap yard this morning and cut out the little section i needed, the guy at the scrappy was lauging at me as i went to laods of effort for 3 inches of metal. but i wanted to get the rigth bit in so i dont need too much filler!.
thats now all welded in and grinded back, looks neat!
i also got my windows in from plastics 4 performance, they were good and came in 2 weeks like they said! they are also the correct length for my streetfighter doors, sliding windows are going to look cool!
the only bad thing about them is the rear quarterlites seem a bit on the small side in places, just have to see how they go when i bond them in!
im just about to go out and finish welding the passenger side front floor pan so should be cutting out the rest of the rust in the rear tomorrow

i also think i have caught another bug, first it was (and still is) carbon
now its the KAD bug, i already have a quick shift and handbrake quadrants, now i have just seen a load of other bits on their website that i am going to purchase!
and i got a tax rebate for £115 today.
oh yeah my roll cage tube is here, and i pressed my clutch release bearing onto my plunger at work toady.

Are you going to bend the tube yourself?
most of the bits i will be making are straight, but there is a garage near me and the guy does custom roll cages in minis, he is the one with the coswort V6 in the front of his mini, anyway im going to ask him to bend it for me.
cheers scott long time since youve been on here, i read you have progressed well with yours too! im hoping that people will appreciate all the work that i have done when it is finished!
i bought a load more stainless bolts for bits and bobs today, i also managed to get a wire wheel for an angle grinder too so i will be going at my subframes tommorow, my mate clubbymeup is going to seam weld, triangulate and lighten them for me so i need to get the paint off.

i have taken today and tommorrow of work to get some work done on the mini.
this morning i have been out and about sorting some bits out.
i droped off my
tie rods
rear camber brackets
clutch arm
rear anti roll bar and fittinfs
damper mounts
at the power coaters all to be done in gloss black got to go and pick them up saturday.
i also got my tyres fitted to the MB's i got them done at a place caller tyre tech in braintree and i am well ahppy with them. my local tyre fitters called supertyres are rubbish and said they wouldnt fit them >
so big up to tyre tech, he even made sure all the balance weights were on the inside, the only thing he said was next time let him have them a day in advance so he can stretch them.
i also thought i would put up some pictures of the work, i cut out the rust i found under the rear widon and welded that up.

im now going to go out to the garage, mark up my subframes where they will be drilled for lightweight and going cut the rear inner sill out, this means i have no more rust!

Have you looked into any sort of special hard coating for the powdered coated tie-rods? Despite what people think, powder coating isn't that tough against harsh environments, ie. stones being flicked up from the road. I'd expect the powder coat to flake off quick quickly.

all the bits that are going to be done already have some form of coating either zinc passivate or chemi black so its just going on as a cosmetic thing, if it does flake i will just paint over it i suppose.
ooooo just though i would say, my mini no longer has any rot, just surface rust which will get blown away when it gets media blasted!
