Long time no update, the bearing issue seems to have disappeared since I fitted the new hub and cv etc. So was please to leave that behind :)

Nicholas has just been tootling along as instructed without any problem for a while now :) But it is MOT time, I put a new pot joint rubber on, new gasket on the float bowl and put new shoes in and adjusted the rear brakes and all seemed well, however it failed :( But not a bad failure!! :D The things were, track rod end play (odd as i replaced them recently), headlamp aim too low and reverse light not working but then i pointed out the switch to turn it on :P So i was well chuffed with that, I picked it up from its retest this morning and what a day for it!! I thought i would go and have some fun in the snow, I was very impressed even with the 13s!!

I think i'll ring round and try and get it booked in for a rolling road today :)

Well I'll repost what i had put from before the hack. Me and my sis for a christmas present got a track day present so we went about 3 weeks ago and was lots of fun. :) Got to drive this beast...

Was shockingly quick, was an great experience!!

But now for some bad news :(

I had an collision on saturday, i was trundling along in my village and someone pulled out on me. :'( There's more info on it in the insurance area but he tried to make out it was my fault when it obviously wasn't, probably just not wanting to admit blame right away. I hope he changes his mind and admits liability to make life easier. Anyway, i was coming along the main road shown, and his drive is to the right of the for sale sign so it was my right of way, he was turning right out.

Reason I am in the middle of the road is due to trying to take evasive action which obviously didn't work. I have been having a look round everywhere and taken a few bits off while i wait for it to get picked up and taken away and its not pleasant :(
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

I knew about all that damage, but i found this behind the subframe mount :'( Makes a lot more work to be required :(
Posted Image

Well as I say they are coming to pick it up today hopefully. Should be getting a courtesy car which will probably be misery on 4 wheels and then i'm going to the doctors to get my neck checked out cause today and yesterday some real uncomfortable pain has started to develop :( One thing i hate more than nicholas being hurt or broken is me being broken :(

So sorry to see this mate. Your mini is such a nice car. I wish mine was that nice! I hope the insurance company sorts it out asap for you. How can the guy say it was your fault even though he pulled out on you!? The insurance company will have none of it for sure. Good luck with the neck mate. I had an accident at work when a fork lift truck ran into me and I injured my neck and back. This happened in August last year and my neck is still killing me!
Good luck and I hope to see him back on here in one piece again.
Joe

Well nothing much has happened yet cause insurance company seem to keep going round in circles but finally have someone coming to look on monday afternoon thankfully.

I thought i'd pull the carpet out so that they could see the damage to the subframe mount better. And i was going to rip them out anyway cause it was getting a bit damp and that carpet inuslation stuff was really rather wet and pointless. So pulled that out and found some domed floors from where it has been poorly jacked up and lots of horrible tarry sound deadening. So i got carried away and ripped it all out :) What a weight! And that was only the front floors!
Posted Image

The floor looks to be in really good condition and it is original too which is nice :)
Posted Image
Posted Image

Shame about this damage though :(
Posted Image
Posted Image

Think the bonnet has had it, well its beyond economical repair...
Posted Image

How he looks at the moment :(
Posted Image

Fired him up though, having been driving a crappy hire care for a week and a half, it really suprised me how awesome he sounds :D

It's hard to tell how bad the floor is because of all the different colours.

What's wrong with the bonnet?

I'm sure he'll be fine before long. How are you getting on with the blame game?

I think the picture in my other post shows the damage to the subframe mount better. I think the passenger side one that's the second picture might be Alrite :)

That pic doesn't show the damage to the bonnet very well. The nearest corner in the picture has been pushed in, you can see where it has creased up sort of. I'm tempted to go for a lightweight carbon fibre/fibreglass mk1 bonnet :)

I asked the insurance company the other day if he had accepted blame and he hasn't :( But they don't seem to have looked in depth into who's fault it was much yet. I asked when or where I should send the pics I have and they just said to wait till it gets looked into further. Don't see why there is all this waiting around for everything. Could have had everything settled within a few days but noooo.

Im kinda hoping it will get wrote off as a cat c/d cause I never intend on selling him and that way I would get more money once id have bought him back and have more money to splash on him :D

Anyway, chopped off the front....

Grinded back the rust, just surface rust really :)
Posted Image

My cones have seen better days..
Posted Image

Cleaned up the area around the subframe mounts..
Posted Image
Posted Image

Not in too bad shape underneath, the rust looks worse than it is in the pics, i've since cleaned most of it all up :)

It's awesome getting payed to fix my own car ;D

Well the pics say it all! :D

Went to huddersfield mini spares yesterday to pick up a load of bits like lights, bumpers, indicators, a panel(needs a new offside one) and loads of other bits. I also dished out a load of money this morning at minispares for something that will really revamp it! Will be revealed later.

Was too busy at work yesterday to fix him so sat him out in the sun with a mate.
