when fitting my rear hilows, the axle stands i borrowed were taller than the max height of my jack.
so i put the jack on some hefty blocks of wood.

i finished and lowered the car down, only to realise the tyres were rubbing on the arch.

but couldnt jack it up as it was so low, i couldnt get the jack ontop of the wood combo back under the car.

Making sure car was ok for MOT, decided to replace one of the washer jets, used mole grips to undo nut, and replaced it.........

Car went for MOT, passed :-) MOT tester, said he found the mole grips in the engine !!!! I felt pretty sheepish!!!!

Had just cleaned the engine bay and had started to paint bits and bobs. Took out the dip stick as it was in the way. Unfortuantly forgot to put it back in so ended up with a nice unclean oil covered engine after driveing to work the next day!

Jacked up the rear of a mini to check for a noisy wheel bearing

Span the wheel really fast to listen ....

Suddenly noticed my fingers being forced past the radius arm pivot in a kind of mangle style fashion.

Removed a lot of skin from most of my fingers.

I'd always forget to turn my fuel pump on after leaving it in a car park. So half way into a journey it'd start spluttering and die, I'd end up taking the front end off to see whats up, checking spark etc before realised fuel pump >_< Flick the switch and bam back on the road

Refitting my cyl head did an oil change too, filling the oil after a change, and thinking why is it taking so much... it wasn't until the oil seeped out under the front of the car that I realised the rocker gasket wasn't sealing at the back... took ages to mop all that off the garage floor... and the smoke off the manifold, pheeew!

This weekend watched my brother struggle with the hub nut on one of his radius arms, it wouldn't come undone, wasn't until after I giggled at him putting the air impact wrench on it, I said... "sure that side doesn't have a left hand thread?" then ran as tools and swearing came flying my way for just watching him wrestle with it and not reminding him!!

i brought a gorgous mountney racing wheel (red completley original £15) got home took all the bolts off and replaced with new shiny st st, well when it come to putting it back together i tried pushing the boss back into place ontop of the ring and to my annoyance it wouldnt fit, so i tried and tried saying it came of this way it must go back on O_O. Well then gave it to my dad for him to try and he had bent it because of all the force we used :shy:, after this we found out that actually you place the ring on top of the centre boss then bolt them together. Well i was in tears  and steering wheel was ****ed. so i cut through the side of it and then welded it together flat (well not bent) and now all i got to do is give the 15mm square space a black touch up job and will look good as new, so happy ending.

But could have been avoided, so....when you take stuff apart always see how it comes apart so you know then you wont balls it up putting it back together.

(im seventeen and will never make this mistake again.... hopefully)

Whilst watching family guy. My dad decides to tell me how to remove my track rod end.. and as ii could tell that this would be a lecture i turn full attention to the telly!! All i heard was as family guy finishes is you might have to hit it with a hammer! So totally blind with ignorance I take off the nut like it says in the Haynes manual and I hit it with the biggest lump/mallet I could find.. smashing a track rod end and now having to get it tracked XD Costing me more money :L

hahahaha you always make me laugh chris

>_<

Oh so many... probably the most costly involved 2 minis and an ill placed jack.

So Kerbed a wheel in my mini, flattened the tyre and limped home on the spare. I decided once back to swap that spare for a 6 x 12 minilite from my brothers (unused at the time) mini until I could get mine repaired.

Got a scissor jack under my brother's mini at the passenger side jacking point and proceeded to crank, took the wheel off, went to fit the spare from mine and found that the axle was hanging too low to the ground to squeeze the wheel on... Thought this was strange and so got another jack under the subframe to raise it from there. All good, job done....

Turns out my brother's sills were rustier that Simply Red's nutsack and had bent quite considerably around the jacking point, meaning the door no longer shut. It's a good job he was in Korea without a clue O_O

Changing wheels shouldn't be that much drama >_<

had my car on jack stands to do something or another. i think it had something to do with the speedo or diff. just as i crawl out from under the car the stands sink on there side into the wet gravel in my driveway and the car falls to the ground. i was well out of the way but you can imagine the feeling.

car was undamaged. pride not so much.
