Rebuilt an engine, it ran for around 2 miles then siezed solid. After removing the engine, draining fluids. I found the problem.

I've also had the engine fall off the workbench because i took the hook off because it was annoying me.

Dropped a fuse in the engine bay again..... Oh, I hate it when that happens!

Bah dropping things in holes is a right pain! Both my doors have a screw in the bottom of each one :D

I've also done the dipstick hole and funnel trick with my first Mini.

Another classic was when I was fitting central locking and was wondering why it took so long to drill a hole. I had the drill set on reverse...

A mate of mine took his head off to replace the valve rubbers, placed the head down, started tightening it up, put the exhaust & carb on, went to go to fit the cables up to the carb and then realised that his had trapped one of the cables in the head, so he had to take it all apart and start again. :-

Fell asleep drunk on the back seats at a friends party with the keys in my pocket. At about 10am the next morning my mates started to rock the car around to annoy me. Mini doors unfortunately can be opened while the catch is down to lock them. I got up to have a go at them, keys drop out my pocket and I forget the door is locked. I slammed the door to behind me. >_<

I had to teach the RAC guy how to break into a mini. Must have been a hell of a sight. An old battered 86 city mini parked between brand new bmw's and jags, in front of a stately home (there were some rich people in my college) with a 17 year old drunk guy teaching the RAC how to break into a mini.

I once poured a fresh gallon of oil in my then-almost-new 998 Cooper, only to realise that the sump plug was not re-fitted.

Two things both on the same weekend,
Fail #1
Took the new MG engine that had been bought for my mini out because it seemed to have seized (even though it turned over fine by hand before putitng it in) Took the engine out then when I leant in the car to take it off handbreak, so we could push it back into the garage I also went to take it out of gear..... my mate laughed his head off. Its just habbit, I always park in gear!!

Fail#2
The engine hadnt even seized, just had an A+ starter motor on the A series MG engine.... >_<

Having spent a day more or less completing the build on Yoda, I stepped back to admire my handiwork and noticed a small pool of something underneath! fearing the worst, i checked everything and then double and triple checking but finding no leaks. BUT the small penny sized pool was now the size of a 50p. so where was it coming from?

an hour later, i realised i had oiled my new twin K&N filters!!!!!!!

DOH!

Spent a good half an hour tightening my oil filter instead of loosening. Then had to fight the thing for at least another hour to get it off.

Then, realised Halfrauds had sold me the wrong filter, and they wouldn't take it back because I had filled it with oil....

Not on a mini, but last week at work i was doing an oil and filter change on a merc sprinter van, filled it with oil, changed the diesel filter, and forgot about the oil filter which hadn't been delivered yet, leaving oil all over the bay and bonnet, fortunately a work mate spotted the surging oil and told me to stop it just as it was started.
