shes all running! took the advice given and check she ran in limp home mode (with out megajolt attached) first. it took more time but enabled me to make sure everything was right. wired up megajolt and she purrs like a puma! already she is better at starting and idling when cold.

everything tidied up

quick engine bay pic

Posted Image

the edis module tidied up and a new air filter

and the megajolt bolted in place

took her for a quick run today, nothing too lary just a quick check. as above i'm already impressed with the way it picks up and its not even setup! going to spend all of tomorrow having a go, so at least i've got something till i get it rolling roaded

yeah i got a few maps from turbominis, been out today doing abit of fiddling, shes not pinking and seems to be running sweet. theres a few hic-ups when you do boot it but i'll get these ironed out on the rr. also i tried to turn up the boost by adjusting the pre-load on the actuator, but it doesn't seem to have moved it much so i might get a bleed valve.

so recent events, my main oil seal went and sprayed oil all over my clutch, nice! so it was slipping whenever i booted it. this weekend just gone decided to get the engine out and change both the crown wheel and pinion (to a shorter one so i can sit on the motorway at lower revs) and put a new clutch and seal in.

Posted Image

engine out!

Posted Image

flywheel cover off, look at the shiny oil sprayed everywhere!

Posted Image

flywheel puller on, over 200nm require to break this bad boy off!

Posted Image

diff out, this it the pinion i'm changing

Posted Image

flywheel off, new seal in place, and primary gear end float checked

Posted Image

new crown wheel in place and diff back on ready to be shimed up.

and engine going back in

its been a while since i've done anythin to this so i thought sod it and bought some bits.

Posted Image

this was the state my a-panel was in, so thought its only best to renew the panel.

Posted Image

the rust behind it. all removed and the metal that was left was treated.

Posted Image

new panel on, lined up. its a non-genuine panel so it took abit of fiddling but its on now.

Posted Image

some rust proof hammerite primer. lets hope it does its job.

Posted Image

and final colour on.

also decided to get a new intercooler that could fit directly behind the grille. this one was from an audi a3 or a4. fits a treat plus its right in the airflow so should keep the air cool!

Posted Image

also fitted my oil cooler. because its summer my oil has been seeing close to 100oC on the warmer days (not that we'll get anymore!).

why thankyou. its been a while since i've said anything about this car. well the 120 or so hp has taken its tole on the gearbox. 3rd gear is excessivly whiny, and the whole box is sort of sound like a straight cut one! not good. to top it off my oil pump is picking up the swarf and making my pressure relief stick open. now i did manage to get most of it out the system but i think it has taken its tole on my oil pump as my oil pressure is pretty much all over the place. so end of this month i'm taking the car off the road. now i'm in 2 minds what to do with it. i don't want to sell it but i can't afford to run 2 cars. i will strip an re-build the engine and gearbox over winter, and then come spring she might be up for sale. could this be the end of my mini adventure?......
