picked up a saftety devices rear roll cage yesterday. (withouth the diagonal)

in the christams holidays ill get that cut up and modified to fit my estate :)

is there a prefered method of doing that? i plan on cutting the legs off square, smoothing off the main hoop, weld a sleeve into the leg, and then an extension of the leg onto the other end of the sleeve. Then reweld back onto the main hoop.

then i will need to change the angle of the feet at the rear slightly i know!

The camper(mini)van I've named it!

It's just a way of being able to lye down in the car fairly comfortably! See if it works!

I have slept in the back of my estate, mid winter apart from being very cold there isn't enough space to lie straight.
What I was thinking of doing was tilting the front seats up and modifying the rear seat base to enable it to lay flat, that should give you plenty of room.

Will be interesting to see what you do.

Something else I was thinking about doing was use something like this (see link below) to insulate the car. Put it behind all the interior trim and headlining, don't know how well it would work.

My mates doing this with his estate. He got the seats on quick release bolt so he can take them out turn them round and face them the other way. He can then sleep with its head on the chair and spread out across the car.

I tried to sleep in my roundnose one night .. as you can imagine not the best nights sleep!

i found the comfiest position to be in the passenger seat with my legs in the drivers footwell :)

I'll take pictures of what I built tomorrow in the light! Only just got it finished!

But I have fitted the new shocks too so not been a bad day.

What I've done is put a board down that goes up to the back of my seats when they are as far back as I like to drive. Then there is a hinged bit that flips over and rest on the base of the front seats when they are tipped forward. It's the exact length of an air bed! Gonna put a double in there ;) should be good!

Be interested to see how you get on with this matt.

Ive been thinking the loadbay on my van would be long enough to sleep on.
