End of the day it depends what you use your devices for.

I'm a graphic designer and Macs are configured for us creative lot, they are also very aesthetically pleasing.

But, they aren't as good as windows for gaming.

Apple do go to samsung for there parts but all companies go to other companies for help and parts ( Its nothing new ) there are more iPhone users than any other Make of smart phone in the World. In my opinion apple wins hand down with all there products ( I have a iMac,iPhone,iPod and a Apple Tv ) . I am assuming that the haters on this forum don't have many up to date apple products because if you did you would feel different .

Yes I know that loads of companies do this, however the point I'm trying to make is the fact that many apple lovers seem to think that nobody apart from apple is capable of producing products which compete with iphones and macs - When the fact of the matter is that without these other companies, apple wouldn't have the tech to make their products so good.

Also the amount of users a product has only proves that apples products have very good marketing, it doesn't mean their products are more proven or any better than everything else out there.

Its only opinion though at the end of the day and everybody will have a favourite that they swear by.

I'm the opposite to analogue - I'm really not a fan of apple and can't stand using their products and computers and would much rather use windows and phones like samsungs as opposed to macs and iphones.

If anything its the price that really gets me, you pay an absolute fortune for macs and macbooks and they'll perform no better than a mid range laptop made by toshiba or another decent laptop manufacturer. Yes they're more aesthetically pleasing, but it doesn't justify the costs at all I don't think. And like I said earlier, the price for some of the iphone contracts work out at an extra £350 over the 2 year contract period and on some of them you still don't get a free phone and the actual minutes and txt's you get are about a third less.

I know this as its only recently I've come to renew my contract and I was blown away by how much extra you pay for iphones and get less - Just for the sake of having an iphone! I couldn't find a contract less than £35 a month where I got the iphone for less than £100.

I'm sorry but that is not true. Apple computers (IMacs ) do not need any anti virus software where as with windows computers you may need to spend £80 on anti virus software and still get some viruses. And as far as your cost point you pay for quality with Apple all there products are maid from Metal and on windows computers of a same spec you just have cheapy plastic. Also Apple products start up slot faster than any windows computer . So the points you have maid are not really valid. May I ask how old you are ?

You only get virus's if your retarded, i've not had a virus since I was about 13 and discovering my first porn sites and clicking all sorts of dodgy links
£80 for anti virus - AVG is free and better than any anti virus out there - Its sworn upon by millions. Theres also other cleaner type software which is free as well, which I run once a month and it clears any unwanted things off your PC which there is never a lot of anyway - Just stuff like temp internet files and cookies mainly. Like I said viruses and spyware/malware are a thing of the past really by using a couple of free well proven products and not clicking on any blatantly dodgy links - Like the adverts you see at the side of websites.

Also about the start up time - if you have a modern laptop/pc running on windows 7 and configure it to not run any unnecessary software on start-up - It'll boot up quickly and won't lag either once its started. The problem is PC's are designed to be easy to use - universal and many are configured to have lots of applications running in the background so that when they need to be used they start quickly. This is what slows PC's down on start-up. Anyone with a PC should know the little tricks and the couple of free programmes out there which speed PC's up and protect them from virus's. Many people don't and so think that mac's perform better.

Look I know macs are made of metal and most other laptop are plastics - But this isn't really true if you spend the same money on an windows laptop that you would on a mac (as in £1k+) For that you also get super thin/sleek metal laptops which perform better than macs and will also run huge programmes and games which mac's would struggle with easily.

You can buy a windows laptop which will out perform a mac for half the price - Full Stop. How can double the price be justified because the laptop has a metal case and an apple logo on it - how much do you think it costs them to produce.

Modern plastics are stonger, lighter, tougher, look better and are more abrasion resistant than ever before. Look around you - almost every tech item is incased in plastic! Having metal and glass all over the iphone just makes it heavier and more fragile than its competition. Plastic isn't a bad thing anymore.

I'm not going to deny that apple products don't look and feel fantastic - They do and like analogue says - If you use them for what they're designed for they perform well too.

The point i'm making is that there is better products out there for less money, al be it with a sacrifice in aesthetics - Which believe it or not - To some people, the world doesn't revolve around.

Thanks for telling us about your experience with porn. You have kind of just shot your self in the foot. You say that not to get viruses and for your windows to boot up quick all you have to do is a few different things which is fair enough however the majority of people out there will not know how to do these certain things and Apple products come all set up ready to be as fast as they can be without having to go into the settings ( I'm writing all this on a IPad 2 by the way )

Lighten up. All i'm trying to say is that argument against PC's about viruses is old news that doesn't really apply anymore if you use some common sense. If you go around clicking dodgy links and following daft adverts on websites and accepting unauthorised downloads - Then yeah 1-0 to macs - Your PC will get many viruses and run very slow. I've not had a virus in the last 5 years easily, probably more, and my anti virus probably flashes up a warning twice a year to warn me that something i'm trying to view isn't safe. Also all internet browsers come with warnings when your entering a dodgy site - So do macs. So if you ignore these warning then you'll have problems - but like I said, its common sense.

All new PC's will come with some form of security software too, it just also happens that one of the best ones is free. Even then, the latest norton anti virus that'll cover about 4 PC's is a little over twenty quid, so if your paying £80 for anti virus software then yeah - Get a mac because paying that each year for the life of the computer the mac will probably end up cheaper!

I'm pretty sure anyone (apart from my mum, why couldn't operate a mac or a PC to save her life) - knows how to take a programme off a PC, its the standard software from the PC manufacturers which slow them down when booting and they can all be taken off very easily to improve things. Its the first thing most people do when they get a new PC. Macs also have things running in the background and things starting on boot up which you don't need. You can also turn these off just like you can with a PC. So no, macs aren't preset to be the best they possibly can - You can still improve them.

I've just done a boot up test on my laptop too, just out of curiosity to see how 'slow' it actually is. It took 30 seconds to reach the log in screen and after i'd put my password in took a further 25 seconds to load up my desktop fully and be ready to roll. I know a mac will boot up quicker than that, but under a minute is not an unreasonable time to have to wait for a PC to boot up in anyones book I dont think - and my laptops nothing too special either.

I don't really see how my age is relevant to this topic but its on my profile if you want to know.

Finally, any mobile made in the last 5 years is capable of browsing a forum, so i'd expect an ipad to.

Apple put more time money and effort into there products than anyone else

Apple buy the parts to make their products so good from other companies like samsung and LG rather than develop their own.

They spend something like £8bn on samsung parts for their iphones and the screens on ipads are made by LG.

This is why it kills me when people act like apple are some sort of god company that cannot be matched

And yet apple still make the best stuff. I get Stuff and T3 every month. Show me a phone that beats iphone4? You can't. Not a single phone has. Which is why it's the top smart phone in both mags. Yes android is more customisable, and some newer phones have more power but iPhone 5 will polish them off with it's imminent release. Apple materials and build quality is so much better. Android phones are all cheap and plasticky

That said, there are some good android phones out there, and it comes down to personal preference. But the iPhone is still the best overall phone. Everyone who says android have a bigger market share seem to forget the iPhone still out sells every single android model. Android only just have the bigger share and it's because there are so many phones running it.

And the app store is better.

As for the Macs not needing anti-virus, that's ridiculous. They are just less common, not virus free. And AVG is ok but it's always worth running two programs.

Mike your pc comments are completely unfounded. I'm about to get a MacBook air. For a comparative model, the Samsung 9 series was the only real choice and the price is on a par or more than for not quite as good spec (when I looked about a month ago anyway). But generally apple are more expensive, granted.

The mac air will boot in a ridiculously quick time something like 9 second (this is from memory, don't shoot me if it's not exact). If it's in standby, it's good to go in about 3 seconds. And aesthetically, Apple wins every day of the week for me.

It is a personal choice. It would be boring if everyone was the same. I also genuinely believe more people would buy a mac if they used one for long enough, but with the comparatively high prices they don't get chance.

To say you won't get a virus unless you do something stupid is ridiculous. Yes you can reduce your risk but you will never be free. And it's always worth buying security software and running a free one. I wouldnt be worrying so much about a virus as a software key logger working undetected giving away banking and credit card details.

Anyone who gets complacent about their security is asking for trouble. Security is my job and the biggest problem is people thinking there is no threat. And Mac users that think they are immune are just as bad. Viruses still exist, iits just that with most people owning PCs the time is spent developing malware that will work on them. Nothing is immune.

As to the virus argument on the iMac, I have had my iMac for over a year and i do click on website links and other sorts of things people would see as 'Nasties' and i have never had 1. This is not to say iMacs can not get them but they are a dam sight better than Pcs

Fair enough about viruses but seriously, a couple of decent free programmes and some common sense are all thats needed to avoid virsues and malware. You say it like everybodys bank details are at risk just because their online.

I supposed its all down to what you use the laptop for and how important aesthetics are to you. For me, the performance you get from a mac book doesn't justify their price.

Boot up time is pretty irrelevant to me as I never shut my laptop down completely. Its set to hibernate when I close it which uses little battery and it'll boot up in 10 seconds after that. The only time I ever shut it down is when it needs to be restarted for updates or software.

Also, you obviously didn't watch the video I posted up - The face off between a galaxy S2 and iphone 4. The Iphone is beaten in everyway - Especially browsing speed. So saying an iphone is unbeatable is the exact type of thing i'm talking about - People think iphones can't be beaten, when the fact is they already have been. And because people are wound round apples little finger, phone operators can charge way more for less valuble iphone contracts even though the phones are of the same value because they know people will pay it, believing that they're getting a better phone.

I hate getting into these sorts of things cause theres never and end and its always opinion.

Anyway, I have an iphone, many reasons, its a great phone looks good, thousands of apps and the software is very versatile. Ive also jailbroken the iphone so again, I can use it for what want. A big reason for me about the iphone is that its works with everything. I have a macbook pro, imac, apple tv ipad and a range of gadgets with iphone enabled features and they all work with each other. I am someone who likes everything to work together and be reliable.

On the android side, there is little gadgets that have android features because there is so many out there. I have an android phone as well as an iphone, and it was great, at first. It then got terribly slow and now its as good as a paper weight. The newer android phones i imagine are a lot better than my one but i havent used them enough to comment on. However, ANdroid is nice and its very customisable to your use. Can be very useful with widgets and i have to say that it does have a few feature that the iphone could use.

If you were to go for a android, the samsung galaxy is a fantastic phone. However, my friend has one and he gets the piss taken as its MASSIVE. We call it his laptop. But ive you've got big pockets, then its perfect :D

Ive always said that; With apple, you get what your given, but what your given, is very good. With android, You can have what you want, but you have to search for the good stuff.

My opinion and experiences.
