isnt it?so the BINI is built in England you saying this is English? because this is your argument.
no car can be truely, "one nations" as parts are sourced from all over the world.
rollers are part built in germany before being shipped over to england to be finished.
thats a british company albeit owned by a german one.
granted we may not have global car makers anymore, but we still have a lot of world class engineers, dont think for one moment all of what this country learnt when it was a global car manufacturer, has been lost just because the companies arent around.
the skills still are around.

couple of things to add, Red bulls are designed, developed and manufactured in Milton Keynes, yes the owners are Austrian, but it is British built.
The 'original' Bini was designed by Rover engineers. The design was then modified by BMW when they sold Rover (the rear suspension and engines)

.................as there is pretty much no british car industry.
Although the British general public tend to think otherwise, Britain actually is still a major manufacturer and exporter of cars whether the companies here are foreign owned or not.
eg. Of the 2 Million New MINI's built over the last 10 years, more than 1.5 million have been exported from the UK.
Map of GB Car factory sites:
http://www.factorytour.co.uk/
As already said all cars including the classic Mini use component parts sourced from many other countries.
About 60 percent of the components of the current Mk2 New MINI built in Oxford come from suppliers based in the UK compared to 40 percent for the predecessor Mk1 model. Petrol engines for the current MINI come from Hams Hall Birmingham built in the UK, and most major sub-assemblies and pressings are from the Swindon factory.
Quote on the British Motorsport Industry:
"This country has a depth of expertise which you simply can't find elsewhere, and it's rooted in our long history of motorsport".
Dave Richards - boss of the highly successful racing firm Prodrive
