gotcha no problem do halfords sell jizer and brake/clutch cleaner

Better to go to a good trade motor factors - you'll pay a lot less. Best to buy 5 litre cans of each.

Hi bud had the haynes manual out it has a photo of measuring the crank end float i tried 4thou to tight 3thou is a nice snug fit both ways and there is not one mark on the journals, i am now going to remove the crank, is it right that the thrust washers are in 2 halfs
as long as i keep them to the correct journal does it matter about top and bottom ?

I have also looked for the oil core plugs and cant find them either end of the block i have seen them on the mini spares web site

You are doing great. Steep learning curve I know, but you're asking the right questions.
It's going to be a great engine when all done and re-installed.

I'm working on an 11.6 litre diesel-engined glider winch all day tomorrow. A different scale of engineering from a Mini, but still interesting.
Let us know how you get on at the machine shop.

Hi Boys main bearings are spot on, the engineer was over the moon with the condition of the big end crank journals but they said they were 1.5 thou undersize so he is going to grind to 10 thou under, pistons are to be 20 thou over
so i have orderd from mini spares
VP91886
VP91306-10
P21253-20
hope i have done this correct i have asked mini spares and they said they were, :D fingers crossed
