Is there a gasket fitted where the oil transfer pipe bolts to the gearbox housing?

not taken that apart the gearbox came of my other engine which i had running for two years with no problems.

so i don't think it could be that or the pick pipe.

the oil pump is brand new, and had it working on the engine.

the problem is for the first run i primed the oil pump let it run for an hour then the next day there was no oil pressure if i re primed the oil pump then i would have oil pressure again.

but i will take it off.

some one said to pack it with Vaseline to build the pressure to prime it.

But you did say that you had to tighten one of the bolts at the back earlier in the thread, if so the gasket may now be ruined if loose or by the tightening. I would check it and fit a new one just to be on the safe side you don't want to have to split this again to find it is that.

The gasket should be paper thin - I suspect you have gaskets intended for an inline A series.......

When top-quality gaskets are available from the likes of Mini Spares, why would anyone buy stuff of unknown quality off ebay just to save a few quid and risk having to do the whole job all over again?

Seriously - these gaskets are only paper thin - the thick gasket IS the problem.......
