This build looks good.
You can get impact wrenches that are battery now and some of them are better than the air ones!

i got mine of with a tourque wrench.

you need to take the selector shaft and disengage it from all of the gears, its just a wiggling game top get that dont with the selctor

then you can slide the gears to lock them of and then if you turn the box upside down on a bench clamp it down and you should be able to get in there with a socket and get it of

as thats how i did mine, and tahts how i got it back on as well

Deselected the gear and tried wobbling and sliding the other gears but they won't lock? Even took the selector gear off and still no luck. Tried everything I can think of now :/

Just managed to break my thermostat housing on the curent housing trying to get a rusted bolt out. i have one stud and two bolts. proper boj job by someone. the old thermostat also has holes drilled in it even though i still have a bypass hose.. now need to get to bristol to get a new cover and stud set. Wish i had never bloody started this now :@

remover the diff housing and the diff. then turn the little rod that selected the gears until the selector dog is not engaged into the selector bell cranks. once that is free you can knock the 1/2 synco into 1st and the 3/4 syncro into 4th - dont be tempted to use 2nd or 3rd for this as some gear kits have a funny torque muliplying affect and will pull the teeth off the laygear as you start to undo the nut. once the box is locked in 1st and 4th you can undo the nut. dont be tempted to use windy guns to shock the nut off as this can damage stuff, rather a correct sized socket and a decent bar (plus a good method to stop the box tipping over) will undo it in no time)

Turn the box over on a flat surface so its more stable...stand on top and PULL on the bar..you can devellop more power that way and 150lb is no bother..

So managed to get the thermostat trouble sorted... appareantly the busiest day shopping of the year and bristol was dead so got straight in and straight out. Decided to give the bolt one more go and boom it just went. I must have loosened it earlier... :shifty:

All the gears are in just need to get the uprated diff pin in and all that jazz. Been following Andyminimad's gearbox build thread here:
http://www.theminifo...pic=160900&st=0

Been very helpful. Although i didnt strip the gears apart its been nice knowing what to expect e.t.c

Next job is to get it all together and get the block to the shop :)

Uwe or Bristol uni? Im at Yate just off the ring road :)

On more topical note.
Box of bits arrived.

And got the main gearbox section finished today. In the process of dismantling the dif to get the new uprated pin in then i can put it all back together again properly again. Centre oil pick up pipe and new cog which was previously chipped as can be seen previously.
