Getting my shop on tommorw (hoe the credit card is stretching at the mo, itll be working hard tommorow)

Quick question is. My pistons have the two flat sides on, do i have to get similar ones or will any fit. Im pretty sure they need to be similar due to the fitting. but thought i would check. :)

Cheers Mike

Think i may have finally made a decision on the final(ish) setup, Altohugh i am tempted to go big on this, as it is a first engine build and the mini is still my daily driver i think im going to go for a sligtly milder version.
As its the daily drive still want it to be a pleasure to drive, and not chug fuel. Sooooo
Will stick to +60 bore,
Going for a 266 kent cam, minispares have a kit which supplies pretty much everything which is handy :)
Still going for the slightly larger vales with rimflow valves.
Still going for the lightened flywheel.

I may end up changing my mind agian but thats all part of the fun :D

Changed mind allready.... just found this..
http://www.swiftune....duplex-kit.aspx
Seems to have a little bit more than the 266, and although has been dupped a "wet sock" here and there, generally has good reviews for being a good, punchy, all round cam :)

swiftune have a generally excellent reputation in the mini scene, but people seem to say the Sw5/07 is a bit of a girls cam!but, if its a balance between economy/driveability/performance, this maybe fine for your setup

Yeah that seems to be the general concencus! Getting a tad confised now though. With the SW5 cam it seems there isnt really a need in opening up the valves, whereas it would be worthwhile with the 276... Might just pick ideas out of a hat and select whichever one i pick out first! 276 would be a LOT more fun....

Anyone want to just decide for me lol >_<

Yeah Swiftune are pretty good.
The sw5 is a good cam, no doubt about it but if your looking for a figure then look elsewhere...
If you want drivability, save yourself some money and do get the 12g295 with some porting.... No bigger valves as you wont need them with the sw5
Ditch the lightened flywheel as itll make it more revvy

How would the SW5 be with the +60 bore? In terms of the money saved its quite appealing also. The 266 Kent is simlilar in price. Is this a bit less of a "wet sock"?

Might just jump in the deep end... Sometimes works :D

I would go with a standard overbore to get new material but apart from that not bother

You will save ALOT of money and still have a pokey 998 :P

Quick question again. is it worth me upgrading to rimflow valves instead of my standard 12g295 valves? Seems a shame to get porting e.t.c done to then leave noraml old valves in.

Also for the new cam will the standard springs do or will i need to upgrade to double springs?

Cheers again, headache is slowly clearing as coming to conclusions. How do people do this for a living?!

rimflow valves are really only for people chasing every last Hp out of the engine, I wouldnt really bother for the unbelieveable cost of them. They do increase flow which is good.If I were you, I would just do some porting work and use the original valvesm (as long as they are in good condition)

As for springs, when I did my engine I put new set of doubles on, matter of choice though, depens how much your going to rev it
