"Tiff Needell looks at what people do to Metro's before scrapping them.........."
I used to follow the Metro Challenge in the 1980's when many Mini racers switched to Metros, some exciting races and took a while to sort the then new Hydragas suspension.........
Old Top Gear from 1991 - They look at the replacement for the Austin Metro, and look at ths history of it.

A bit like a man crush or something. <---- Not that I've got a man crush, but that kind of feeling.
I would like a 6R4 (obviously), but I'd also like VVC converted job, but I'd want it to look absolutely knackered.

2 months after got my 2nd car a yellow metro city 998cc slow as but when i got my metro turbo interior wheels and bodykit it felt so fast, 3 months later some cun t ran over her in a fork lift writing her off.
3 years after i had my mums metro turbo for a year, g reg 1990 all standard i loved it not terribly quick but so much fun.
now 13 years on you dont see to many metros so sad.

It was a 90 advantage very late old shape metro with turbo bodykit and wheels
It was nice and and it went really well, but i wanted a mini.
Much better value than minis tho.

I also strangely like the Rover Metro too! Especially the Rat look ones

Great fun and a lot cheaper than racing a Mini.

"It’s funny how more than 25-years on from its short but sweet career in front-line rallying, the MG Metro 6R4 is still venerated by anyone who’s been near one. With explosive acceleration, a V6 soundtrack and truly unmistakable Group B looks, how could anyone be unmoved?
Sadly, Group B was cut short for the start of the 1987 season, and the astonishingly promising 6R4 was never allowed to reach its full potential in world championship rallying. But it made a mark, nevertheless – and this excellent period feature charts its story. Enjoy."
