Gotta admit it, i like cars with sharp lines like the metro, and Craig you seem to have yours in good nick, as much as I can appreciate they have a following, how on earth did Morris/Rover expect the Metro to be the successor to the mini?
enlighten me metro fanboys !
I think the first thing to realize, like the Mini, if you're into Metros is that they ARE awful cars, they ARE rubbish, and that they WILL break down. Makes love for them even stronger when they do work

The Metro had the most ridiculous testing program in the world. It was SO thorough and was being done 5 years before the car was anywhere near being marketed. I cant remember how many million miles the Metro had covered on test tracks and around the world before it was released, but it was a lot. They soon realized a few years into production that it would never replace the Mini, and designing a fun, stylish family car (family being key) In the size of the original Mini... and having it look nice was pretty much impossible. They soon decided to release it as the bigger of their new babys hence... 'Mini Metro'
Enjoy this, it's an awesome documentary.

What little information there is on the Minki and minki-2 make for interesting reading. They would have been nicer than the Rover 100 anyway!

Unsung Heroes : Rover Metro/114 GTa
AROnline takes a another look at the cars which once littered the streets of blighty which now are vanishing fast.
We love the Rover Metro/100 and the mildy-sporting GTa proved that power isn’t everything when cheeky charm is in abundance. Mike Humble grabs the keys…
