If its a repair its damn weird, It does look like the cars been welded badly straight across, but using plug welds ??
No idea whats going on with those bolted inner sills, again only partially welded.
It's not good whatever is going on. whats it like from underneath, may give more of a clue whats gone on ??

To be honest i havent had a proper look from underneath, Its coated in undersill so not sure im going to see much anyway! There is literally no other clues to whats been done. The roof and tops of the door frames dont look like they have ever been welded up so im wondering if it is just a crap floor repair. Maybe the rear floorpans and the V is to avoid the handbrake assembly???

MMMM, don't think its meant to look like that...!
If it was a patch of rust (a small one) you would see this layering if doing a patch job, but not the whole length of the car... Don't quiet understand why this is like it is...
Would help looking under the car as above it looks like they have inserted a repair panel the whole width of the car and looks on the pics like its just been tack welded (not a full weld) although they may have done the full weld underneath i would have thought they would have welded the inside too... The sills have also just been part welded, look like they have been added in for strength to a poor job....
if in doubt mate, i would take it back to dealer and show them, any arguments from them just say that fine and you will speak to fair trading, as they should of easily spotted that..
Plenty more Minis in the sea.

looks very dodgy to me, and the fact that its covered underneath in underseal/seam sealer smacks to me of them trying to hide it aswell, handle with care

hate to say - looks like you were right - It's probably had some major work done with second hand parts
looks like the rear floor has been added with a 2-3 inch overlap and staggered welds top & underside
and bolts used to pull the panel together / temporarily holding the shell , then the holes plugged up
plates are in the sills to strengthen , then outer sills put on
can't say it's a cut and shut , till you find the other join - usually by the front a pillar
could just be a poor floor repair , but looks like a C & S
Sit back and think things thru ...
Give the garage a chance to refund the money
go to Citizens Advice Bureaux with all the details - www.citizensadvice.org.uk
and www.moneysavingexpert.com
if all else fails ...
Write the Facts about the car inside the rear windows , and the Fact that you bought it from their garage
and park it outside the forecourt area , or the opposite side of the road
I really hope it all works out for you - best of luck

Bloody hell that looks bad!
Considering the seat belt and seat mounts are so close/either side of the 'repairs' i'd say thats just dangerous.
Where did you buy this car from?

Please don't name the garage just yet.
Give them chance to put things right first.

Cant tell from that if its two cars or just a really bad job repairing the floor with a second hand one but it doesn't look safe to me. Its not properly welded at all.
Go back and see what they say, but Id get trading standards involved either way.

I'd get advice on this first before you go back.
Even if they do take responsibility and give you your money back, they may just sell this car on to another unsuspecting customer.
This car definitely shouldn't be on the roads and I dread to think what'd happen to it and you in an accident.

I wouldn't say thats a standard repair, Reason for saying that is the sound deadning is still on both sides of the cut yet there is still an overlap on the panels. The black paint is that over the complete floor? if its only over half scatch it off to see if it reveals a different colour paint. Have a look around the a pillers at top and bottom for any signs of welding.
At the moment i'm currently joining two halfs of different minis the correct way of only using the factory joins and it isn't and easy job and neither are crashed damaged.

things to check if its 2 halfs joined.
check if the front end is the same colour as the back end inside the car.
has the door step panels been welded across the top inline with weld marks on the inner sill.
is there signs of it being joined along the c post. or signs of weld on the door aperture at the screen end were the door seals fit.
it really looks like a car that should be taken back to the garage for a full refund.
