Thanks buddy, Will put some more photos up later on.

Getting mighty close to the deadline now, booked the mot for a week and a halves time. So its got to be running for then!!

Haven't had a chance to do anymore, mainly because I went out and got drunk last night instead of doing anything... That was a mistake.

Some photos from the other day and todays work!!

Posted Image

Welding completed, I have done some spraying but no photos >_<

started doing some engine prep

Done the valve clearances, new rocker gasket, new engine mounts and bolts.

Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

also I painted the fan pulley and alternator bracket

Posted Image

Have also rigged up the crane/hoist thingymajig ready for tomorrow

Posted Image

will be hanging the the block and tackle off the bar along the top and then just man-handling up and over.

Also I can't seem to get to the bottom of the "wobbly" wheel problem it seems to stick out a bit more than the other side too

Posted Image

normal side

Posted Image

wobbly side.

It sort of clunks and moves back and forth, although you can't see it wobble you can feel and hear it. I suspect the bearing hasnt seated properly in the hub, so I'll be taking that off again soon :mmkay: F'in minis!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for looking people!

I'd say check the radius arm pin is seated without any issues as well, just in case.

Could well be the rear hub which is wobbling (maybe due to damaged-incorrectly seated bearing)

Cheers for the points guys!!

Hopefully its not a damaged bearing I've just replaced them!! >_< I think its likely to be it not seated properly, but the radius arm pin is another good point, I was having trouble getting the washer and rubber seal to sit right so this could popped out and pushed the wheel out slightly. Hey ho I'm sure I'll find out soon!! haha.

More updates very soon.

I said it would be very soon haha!

Well today this happened

(new engine mounts)
Posted Image
Posted Image

So yeah I think you've got the idea now, the engine is back in!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D I used this little beauty to get it in

Posted Image

Engine mounts torqued up

Posted Image
Posted Image
(don't really know why you want to see this  )

I also started to put some stuff back on the engine and painting some stuff to make it look nice and tidy :proud:

Painted the radiator cowling, breather, and slave cylinder mounting plate.

Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

I've put the starter motor, thermostat, top engine steady, oil filter and pipe (not finished need some gaskets paper), oil breather, and had a go and figuring out where the wiring loom goes, it's not too bad really sort of just falls back into place.

Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

Also got my new radiator

Posted Image

Thats all for today, I think... haha. Tomorrow I should be getting a good day on it tomorrow get another load of stuff plumbed in hopefully the exhaust etc. This time next week I'd like to have it in a position to start it up and see if it goes. That reminds me I need some more spark plugs.

Right thats enough from me today, I'm off to eat my body weight in steak and then sleep for 12hours.

Thanks for looking!!!

Not much to add today.

Just got the driveshafts and front hubs on and greased up the balljoints, radius arms, and top arms.

Had a good old struggle with the driveshafts, the passenger side had popped out of it's joint so was "longer" than it should of been, which was causing me to become really irritated when trying to get hub on, until my dad came down noticed it and popped it back it, felt like a bit of a knob!

Right, I'd love to be posting a nice video with me running around cheering like an idiot with the engine running, but I can't, because the even will not turn. As in forward or backward, by hand or on the starter, even though it turned over when out of the car.

So yeah, I'm not very happy.

Anyone with any ideas?

Thanks,
Jack

I have a update of sorts, I posted up a question about my problem and got some good suggestions, (bent dizzy drive and clutch slave bracket bolts fouling the flywheel) so I'd like to be trying those tonight.

BUT, Over the weekend, I think sunday, I managed to rupture and tear my groin muscle and cause a muscle hematoma :xxx: , basically my muscle is bleeding from the tear and has swollen up, so yeah I can't walk and am bed/sofa ridden for at least a week.

Hopefully my mate who's been helping me out will be coming over and doing some work for me to see if he/we can sort this engine.

But also even if the engine runs and starts and it's finished for L2B this weekend, whether I'll be able to move my left leg properly to drive it is another question.

Not good news, although it does give me some time to research engine builds/engine swaps.

Hopefully I'll get some photos up tonight if nothing else :(

I'm an idiot, It was the clutch slave bracket bolts jamming the flywheel, massive thanks to ANON who pointed this out!

I, well my mate, took out this bolt, which was chewed up a bit >_< , and it turned over by hand so.....

Posted Image

IT RUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It sounds much better now as I've put the back box one!

I was extremely surprised when after 1 turn of the key it burst into life! chuffed!!! :D

anyway here are some photos of the car now

Posted Image
(foggy doing the work, while I was sat on my arse!)
Posted Image
Posted Image

how its sitting now, needs to go much lower!

Posted Image
Posted Image

Only a few more things to do now, Foggy is coming back over tomorrow to do the clutch and brakes, Hopefully I'll have it ready for this weekend and depending on my leg I might make L2B

Thanks for looking people!

Another quick update. I'm still off work with my leg, on crutches now as well, so yeah I think L2B is out of the question.. :( which sucks.

I have booked the car in for an MOT Friday, but I think I might cancel it, and not rush to get it finished.

Anyway last night I got Foggy got the clutch slave cylinder on (with smaller bracket bolts :P ) and have bled the clutch system so thats all working fine now. Also my Dad connected up the brake master to the splitter and I got some new copper washers for the caliper lines, so they got those on too! Although it's really frustrating not being able to do this work myself .

I have also run into another problem, the manifold seems to be leaking from the head, I had lost one of the manifold nuts so used a different one with a washer, but the washer bent under the strain. I have got another manifold nut so will try that but I have a gasket on order too!

I'll get some photos up later!!!

Photos and an update!

here are some photos of stuff that I fitted
Posted Image
Alternator
Posted Image
Radiator, fan and belt.
Posted Image
Clutch master cylinder

This was all obviously fitted before i started the engine, just forgot to put the photos up!

Posted Image
My "to do" list. A little longer than I want.

Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Foggy and my girlfriend bleeding the brakes!!

Posted Image
The suspect manifold nut, causing the leak, luckily I found a proper manifold nut and fitted it and the leak has stopped! I have a new gasket on the way though, so will probably end up changing it anyway.

Right, urgent stuff I want to get done soon.

Posted Image
Driver side door repair, will cut this out and weld in a new patch, as it is right on top of the seat belt mount.

Posted Image
Indicator wiring minus the connectors!

Posted Image
Posted Image
Wiring for the temperature gauge on the radiator, the connectors looking worse for wear!

Posted Image
Need to mount the ECU, was thinking of moving it inside the cabin to free up some space. Not sure how much work this will be.

Posted Image
Posted Image
More rust that needs treating on the roof guttering.

Posted Image
Found all my receipts from bits I have bought, might total them up, or might not, could make me depressed haha!

I have canceled the MOT and any hope for L2B, but, at least I get some extra time to get everything done properly instead of rushing around. Hopefully it will be done in about 2 weeks, hopefully...
