Yer flywheel side was ok, must have had a driver that rode the clutch alot and worn one side out! I have a spare pressure plate so i will possibly use that. In all my years ive neve done a mini clutch so will have to figure it out with a little help from here and mini manual!

Trying to sell an xr2 cam kit to go towards funding the build but the engine builder has borrowed two of the tappets so will have to ask him for some of them back!

Should get my connect engine back soon so will see if hes started on it yet! I doubt it but would love to see a little progress!

While the engine is away im just looking at odds and sods. Has anyone used / seen or heard reviews of the sc5 port management kit? Its the throttle body conversion. Not to say i would use it but would be at least interested to see how it works!

Other than that the engine is still away and the shop is really busy at the mo so its not been touched!

Guessing by the rubber spacer btween sarbs and manifold they seem to be from a midget or something similar.
You need to check that the floats stay about 90° vertical with the manifold flanges are at 90°, i dont know if you get what i mean.
Also, if they're out of a midget, the carbs wil sit on the manifold at a 20° angle and they foul the bulkhead on a mini..
In that case you'll need a mini manifold which puts the carb at a 30° agle instead of 20° and then put 30° float chamber spacers to make the float sit correctly with the new carbs angle. The 30° type spacers are red/orage colour by the way, so give a check at what you got there.
Hope this helps, good luck with the build, 1098 are nice torquey engines and they dont need to be revved that much to achieve top power, which means way longer rebuild intervals.

I get you i think. I went to the mini show at the weekend and got the part number from a proper set of mini twins so i will clean it up and check if not i will have to get one! As long as i can alter them i will be happy! Engine is still away being done so cant update on that and i have beenbusy putting an engine in a connect so no chance to sort anything at all!

Be glad when the engine is sorted because then i can move on to the next phase of the job!

Just trying to sort some parts for my car. i want to check how many parts on an early riley elf would be the same as a mk2 mini? I.e subframe and gearbox mainly? The riley is rotten but i need a whole load of parts so could use it to help me along!
