Looking good Les, I see the new speakers are a bit rough ;) (jk) Looks like the pods could use another skim of filler before you cover them. What else are you covering in the Alcantara to match them? I like the contrast between the black dash & white gauges.

Hi Scott, my old dash was black but i did not like the fact it did not have a proper glove box, thats why i wanted the factory fitted one. The problem that gave me was i wanted 2 clocks, not 3 above the radio, which they did not make, so i've had to make my own. Still trying to make up mind mind about a couple of other little changes to the interior, you know how it is

It's been a while but it's time for a little update on progress so far.
Managed to get all my front end parts back from the powder coaters, get the front end rebuilt and fitted to the car, and as usual i am very impressed with the end result.

Managed to make myself a makeshift spray booth type thingy in the garage, to aid with a little spray job on my dash,as after an idea was planted in my head, i decided to go down the route of blending my new speaker pods into the dash instead of wrapping them.

I think the dash looks better with them blended in, the blemishes are from the camara flash even though it looks like dodgy filler lol.

Opinions welcome guys.

I have now managed to finish my dash build, just need to decide on some grilles for the speakers and get it fitted to the car

Looks like there are some good scratches on there, but the flash has done me again. What do you think folks

Looks brilliant.
I'm hoping to do a whole dash including top and bottom rail builds all in fiberglass to hold a nice set of components like yours.
Cheers for sharing :)

Update time again folks,

I used to have my amps hiden away under my rear seat bench, but have now decided to cut about my boot boards and mount my amps in the boot itself. Originally i wanted to mount them on a motorised amp rack with the anps side by side, but as i have 2 fuel tanks in the boot already my boot is 25mm to narrow to allow me to do this(how f@@king annoying is that). Tried them face to face, but they are to close together to take the front plate off to set up the gains.

So eventually came up with this idea, wrapped it in black comfort suede.

Posted Image

To get all the wires into the back of the amp rack, i jigsawed out a hole large enough for a 75mm ram pipe i had in the garage, pushed it through the hole and bent over the back side of the pipe to hold it in place. Cut a couple of battons and fixed these to the back and side of the boot boards to hold the amp rack in place.

Posted Image

Dropped the amps into place and bolted it all up with M5 cap bolts and tee nuts. I drilled 3 large holes in the bottom of the rack to bring the wires through to hopefully keep it all looking nice and tidy and still be able to lift the bottom board out to gain access to the battery

Posted Image

All i need to do with it now is take it all apart, refit it into the boot and stick some LED lights in, then it should look like this

Any and all comments are more than welcome

Update time again.

Managed to build some new tweeter mounting plates, cut from 2mm steel plate

Posted Image

welded together at the desired angle

Posted Image

wrapped and smothered in resin, test fitted after the resin hasd dried

Posted Image

now waiting for the first filler to dry before sanding back

Posted Image

Also had a test fit of my new amp rack in the boot, nice cosy fit as well

Have not had any lately but keep the comments coming people, good or bad.

the tweeters are going back in the same place as the old ones, just behind the mirror mounts on the doors.

Thanks for your interest, it's good to get some feedback as there are plenty of different ways to do things, this is just my way.

With the pods that are blended into the dash, have you ever thought of running them with AP membranes and venting them out through the fresh air vents for proper aperiodic venting?

I was thinking about doing it with mine and fitting some arch liners to minimise and water ingress through the vent.

I belive as they are purely mids (not mid bass) smaller sealed encolures would be best.
