Nice progress, glad to see you're set on 10's! I think you should take all the plastic arches off and run it archless for a while, looks nicer that way ;D I told you that ******* switching panel would be a fun job, good to see you've got it sorted now and all the switches are in the middle where they should be :teehee:

Keep up the good work :D

Haha! I've got you to thank for setting me on them! f*$%@&g expensive decision though...
^hopefully it'll keep the MODs happy (if not, I'm sorry!)

Yeah that's a good idea, I think I will be doing this until I get new wheels and arches that'll cover them (just) ;D

yeah it was generally a painful procedure >_<
but yeah they are now al in the right place, although it'll take a bit of getting used to I think :gimme:

Just gotten back from my holiday in the far reaches in Wales,

And look what was waiting for me when I got in! :D

which all opened up;

time for a little update from me on what's happening at the moment...

so as you may have read, one of my arches broke and it was suggested that I run it archless until I sort new wheels and can then get the right size arches for them...
and so:

I also took a couple of pictures in the dark before I left for Pembroke ;D

Can't really see in the photo, but it looks almost angry from the rear

that's all for now for now folks ;D

Yeah in some way, I actually quite like it without arches... :P
But I will have to put some on with the 10's or they'll stick out a bit far I think :shy:

Haha yeah I will do, but I need to 10's, arches and tyres before I can really start... :P

Unless I can safely put 12's on the 7.5'' disks... :P

I think it's time for another quick update!

so I have run into a slight problem,
there is a weird chattering/grating noise coming from the front passenger side of the car,
I've deduced (with help from passengers) that it is further towards the edge of the car than the engine.
But it only happens over about 50mph

I first thought that it was the wheel bearing that was causing the noise,
so I have replaced it,
this is what it looked like before:
Posted Image
I'm not sure whether that is mullered or not, but hey, gives me peace of mind :w00t:
however.
It hasn't stopped the noise.
next step is to try putting the arch back on that corner to see if it is the body panels rattling...
other than that the only other thing I could think of is that there is something stuck in the cv gaiter which is pinging around in there...

but hey, I'm sure that it will be sorted :teehee:
hopefully before MITP...

when I replaced the wheel bearing,
I decided to fit my new brake kit, which is allowing me to go down to 10'' wheels :xmas:
which I'm picking up at MITP which means that the car needs to be done by then :teehee:
but anyway, time for pic of fresh brakes:

They look so small behind 12's!
Posted Image

I think my Mini is getting used to being in this position...:
Posted Image
There were several issues:
1. The drive flanges didn't fit to begin with, so we had to remove the studs from the disks, then fit the flanges and then pull the studs back through
2. The disks wouldn't fit over the hubs, which turned out to be because the hubs were so covered in crud and the internal diameter of the 7.5'' disks are smaller than the 8.4''s by about 5mm...
3. The callipers needed some material taken off so that they would actually fit on to the hubs over the disks...

Well it is still a cool looking car lol

i would wait untill u get the 10's, not much point in putting u disks on older rims giving the fact thayt ur going 2 change them anyway :-) :-)

meh, it's covered in rust :sneaky:

and apparently it is safe to put the smaller brakes on

I think that's all for now...

Haha that's only because I have had it for longer than you have...

Yeah I thought it would be a good idea to downsize whilst the car was up in the air ;D

Yeah I can't wait either! I think they are gonna look AWESOME!! :shades:

Well,

I'm feeling a little bit like a fool... that noise that I couldn't discover the cause of..?
I found the cause.. :shy:

Posted Image

duhh! >_<

I am surprised I didn't notice this before, must have checked for fouling twice before!
Ah well, 3rd time lucky I guess... At least it's sorted though

that's all for now though ;D

Rob

P.S. Note that the picture was taken AFTER I had put the fresh air vent pipe back on and gone for a quick test...

Haha if it was an expensive job, he'd have to come off the road for a while till I could get funds together... >_<

Pretty much, although being at Maks and helping out has meant that I get stuff done cheaper
I'm also looking for some different seats, and Mak's got a pair that look just right for what I want :proud:
