Right so,
couple of advances,

First of all,
remember the head I bought some time last year?
well I have finally started getting it ready for fitting:
Posted Image

got some manifold studs for it :proud:

then last friday, this arrived:
Posted Image

it's another 28/36, but this time on a manifold! and from what I can tell from research, it is the right manifold for good mixture, so I am quite pleased :D
it also seems to be quite old from what I can find about the company, apparently been around since the lare 60's...
Posted Image

then at Bingly, I got these:
Posted Image

and then I tried fitting everything to the head...
Posted Image
Posted Image

Hopefully it will fit like a dream :proud:

and finally, me and The Otter decided to wash the salt/dirt from the undersides :shifty:
Posted Image

that's all for now,

Rob

so earlier this week I won some roof bars on the good old Ebay. for 99p + some p+p,

they arrived a few days ago and they were still in the original packaging!
and they have folding legs for neat storage! :shifty:
Posted Image

needless to say, I put them together and they went on the car in the morning!
Posted Image

personally I like them and they'll come in useful! (I hope) :proud:

then yesterday (technically) this arrived:
Posted Image

and as a result, my replacement head has gone from this:
Posted Image

to this:
Posted Image
Posted Image

both the valve guides and stem seals are going to need replacing as all the valves were a tad wobbly and the valve stems all had oil on them (I presume that means the seals aren't working as they should...)

So it's been a while...

Several things have been happening...
Not too many pictures and I can't remember everything I have done but I'll do my best...

one of the first things that happened was helping a friend find and change his gearbox.
we found several whole engines in the local mini specialists (with the owners permission of course)
but the fist one we came across was this!! :gimme:
Posted Image
the gearbox turned out to be practically dead but seeing as I wasn't having that anyway, it wasn't too much of a concern
but the bores still appear to have hone marks on them! :w00t: so of course, the block/pistons/crank + ancillaries now belong to me.
(this bit)
Posted Image

one catch, however. the cam is scrap, as is a push-rod and the followers need replacing. but I was going to put a better cam in anyway, so that isn't so much of a bad catch :D

since then I have bought a distributor for it (a 45D4) and will need to find the right clamp for the block (the old type :whistling: )

Posted Image

And I have finally gotten around to having the wellers shot blasted and painting them up! (I know it has taken me a long time! :shy: )

In zinc primer:
Posted Image

and then painted in my own chosen colour (Vauxhall King's Blue) however, the photo doesn't do them justice
Posted Image

I then got tyres fitted and got them on the car:
Posted Image

I think they look awesome and the colour has come out exactly as I wanted it to! :proud:

But I have had to order in 2 tyres as one of the rears has a slow puncture >_< but hey, these things happen :teehee:

I have FINALLY managed to sort out my sticky/stiff throttle cable!
turns out that the cable I had replaced the old one was too short and was kinking as it came out of the bulkhead, making it stiff and sticky, however, the actual cable had managed to go slightly rusty, which won't have helped... either way it's fixed! :genius:

I have also fixed the rev counter on permanently (in the same position)

I think that is all for now, I'll try and update more often than I have been since...

thanks for sticking with it! :highfive:

yeah, one had a slow puncture so decided to change a pair, as then it won't produce discrpancies side to side.

what do you mean yours has decided to stop? :ohno:

I'm pretty much in the same boat. only mine is hemmoraging oil at the moment, and I suspect will need to be pulled soon to sort them before it gets much worse O_O means bye bye bursary ;D

Stop making problems, as the car seems to be fine, with the only problems which it has is the stuff I haven't got around to fixing yet lol!!

Well, the handbreak still isnt working that well, i think the rear section needs doing. The centre clock illumination still doesnt work, the full beam flasher switch turns the radio off, need to replace the engine mounts, and now the car is doing some weird stuff i dont understand.

Ah right i see, well you have the money and time to get it sorted lol!!
