Just a little bit of an update I guess, not a hell of a lot has changed as I have no money at the moment
However, I changed the points and condensor, set them all up and the car was running fine, for a day or two. The car decided to have another hissy fit and stutter around everywhere. I ran it slightly rich as this seemed to help for a while but after having a look on here, I saw that the new condensor units seemed to lack the quality of the old parts.. so I changed it back for the old one (glad I kept it now!) And adjusted the idle and mixture again and now it runs like a dream!
However. After this I thought I should probably fix the worn out adjuster on the drivers side rear. But then discovered that I had a leaky cylinder, although when I got my friend to pump the breaks to make sure, it decided to completely let go and made a mess on the floor. Luckily we were at a garage anyway and moss is just down the road so I have also replace the cylinder and brake shoes all round along with the adjuster.
Said mess:
Another issue I have run into is that the dashboard has been made to fit a mini with no top dash pad/rail which means that it won't fit in my car
So its got to go back to them so they can rectify the problem. Bit of a bummer as I wanted it in before christmas so that it didn't interfere with revision
also caught a half decent pic of my car a while back:

First things, I figured out how to fit the dash to match the center console
It involved doing this to him:

I then had to create my own wiring loom to enable lighting of the gauges and so forth...
this ended up being the end result of all my efforts:

pretty snazzy eh?
there have also been a fair few problems
First of all,
I was driving to my dads in the rain, and the wipers then decided they didn't want to work any more and attacked the scuttle
so I waited at the side of the road for the rain to stop after realising that it wasn't an electical issue. then as soon as I continued on to my dads the exhaust thought it would be the perfect time to get a divorce from the y-peice. long story short, I had to wait until I got home to do anything about any of them, as the wiper cable had snapped. so I replaced that and repaired the exhausts marriage. after that, tested the wiper motor, but it had decided to go on strike.
that ended up in replacing the whole motor and park switch with a known working second hand one.
Then, after that there were the wheel bearings, I check for wobbles every so often, and they wobbled, checked for which part it was, and sure enough. it was the bearings.
at the time I didn't have the funds so decided to get it home before getting some bearings at a later date and change them there.
So changed the wheel bearings with the correct fitting method, all fully packed and everything, but the wobble was still there. I couldn't figure it out, so I took it to my Mini specialists in Keynsham and we found that there was some play in the track rod ends ball joints. so they got replaced and it is all solid again!
for now!
the latest addition to him is a rev counter

only took 5 minutes to wire it up and I think it looks awesome!
Lastly the obligatory snowy picture

That's all for now!
thanks for sticking with it, I know it was a wordy post

change of plans with the carb.
this arrived recently:

needs a bit of a clean/couple of parts but when it's sorted it should be good
that really is all of it now...

Haha it certainly is an awesome carb, just a little over the top for my piddly little engine
haha thanks! it took a while but I think that they probably still wouldn't be the ideal settings for it
they do have a very nice sound to them

they sound umbelievable, but after this rebuild ive a different back box (a s/s play mini side exit with twin 2" tips) RCM link pipe, the weber, and a bigger valved head. the sound is going to be unbelievable, especailly of the rev limiter
