Nah I haven't. To be honest I completely forgot they existed until I was in HMV earlier looking at the general interest section and saw a Royal Marines DVD. I'm not really into the Navy side of HM Forces though.
I might transfer over to the Paras in my Army career though.

you can still be a driver in RM and if your into jumping...there are more RM that jump than the paras now

Haha nah it's not the getting wet bit. Just that all three services have their own sort of area of expertise. RAF being air, Army being land and Navy being sea.
Nothing against the Navy at all. Everyone has a tough job in the services so I have the utmost respect for all servicemen & women. We all just know what we like.

lol just what everyone thinks! RM, yeah its part of the navy but they aint sailors lol
they go by sea, land and air...
i had no idea about them not long before i joined... just saying that a lot of people just go straight for the army but have a look into it mate, explore all the options!

Haha can you blame us? Royal Marines. ;)
Having a look at the official site now but I'm pretty set on what I've chosen so far.

Or once you are in just do the All Arms commando course if that floats your boat (see what I did there). Likewise for the paras you can do P-Company as an 'other' cap badge.

Surely those booties that go and do P-Coy would disagree with the above

Ah yeah, lol. I updated the thread with a pretty large post but the hackers invaded the forum again before I got a chance to read any replies.
So far the process has grinded to a halt. I did my BARB test on the 1st May and I'm 99% sure I passed. The Army recruiter that spoke to me didn't say I failed so I must have passed. I just wasn't given my score. But the pass mark for Infantry is one of the lowest in the Army so it's harder to fail the test than it is to pass. I reckon I got about 7 wrong. I noticed the mistake as soon as I clicked on the answer, but by then it was too late and you can't go back to correct it.
What I need to do now:
1) Get another copy of proof of my change of name. I was born surname A. Shortly after birth I was given surname B. Then in '94/'95 my mum got married and I became surname C; which I still have to this day. My mum originally told me she had no proof of me going from surname A to surname B but the day after I got back from the BARB test, my cousin's fiancée (who was in the army 2 decades ago) quizzed her about it and suddenly she remembered she did change my name officially shortly after I was born. Next day she phoned up the solicitors she did the change and it's going to cost £80 + VAT! So that's thrown a spanner in the works for the time being until I can raise almost £100.
2) Get an eye test & glasses for my short-sightedness in my right eye.
3) Get my medical done at my local GP. Paid for by the Army.
In that order preferably. This proof of name thing is really annoying me.
Fitness-wise. I'm doing well. Need to cut off only 50 seconds from my 1.5m run time. http://www.sports-tr...sjqd92vv?ref=nf Although I haven't done much in the way of strength exercises lately.

Well the guy gave me the RG8 form to give to my GP. Just weird that I wasn't given my score.
