This is awesome, Weathers looking good for the weekend at the moment so this weekend the engine should be going in.
Alot of people dont understand the look niki is going for. If you look past the grey and scabby looking parts, its actually really solid with no rust or holes on the body, the subframes are re-painted and the area around the subframe Waxoiled.
Im hoping i can get the engine in and running this weekend, but it depends on how much time we spend on it and if we have all the components needed.

There is a running theme with the interior on this one.. i also did a similar thing with my old fiat.
I never binned any of the air freshners i bought for it, Only added to the collection - So far i have 9 black ice air freshener trees to hang from the heater switch and soon will have alot more!
And idea of jacks was to ask at the shows for people to post their old fresheners through the window of the mini so i can build up a massive collection of them. If anyones up for it and has a few old used ones to spare then let me know! When my fiat was on the road I had approx 20/30 of them all hanging from the rear view mirror (Of course at the shows only!)

So...
Brands hatch festival was awesome, some fantastic racing and although it was cold I really enjoyed myself.
The trip back... not so fun.
Passenger side tie bar nut came off when approaching a roundabout at approx 60mph. Not knowing it had come loose, as soon as I tapped the brakes to begin slowing down the tiebar slipped out of place, allowing the hub, driveshaft and arms to snap backwards. The wheel slammed into the flitch panel and locked up. Felt like i hit a pothole that i never came out of again.. Slid further down the road heading rapidly towards the curb, I tried to brace myself and counter steer away but by that point it was too late.
Slammed into the curb with a fair amount of force, Popped the tire on impact, bent the lower arm out of place and put a kink in the tiebar. Nelly finally stopped moving after using the sump and exhaust system to grind along the curb leaving a massive gouge along the curb. She certainly left her mark in the road!
Jack saved the day after seeing it all happen in his rear view mirror, parked up in a safe location and ran back down the road to get me out the car. After a few tears of utter panic he calmed me down enough to go look at the damage....
If you look closely the skid marks actually start about 1 white line into the change of road surface..
Damage.. not only is the lower arm bent but also twisted
This part of the ball joint has not been damaged in any way to get it off the hub - what you see there is it became mishapen when the rod part of it was ripped clean out on impact..
So please please please!!! be careful out on the road and make sure you use nylocs on anything that may vibrate free / is part of the structure of the car!
I'm ok now, took me a while to get over the shock and i still cant get the noise out of my head.
Also a key note for anyone going camping soon / to any shows.. SECURE YOUR STUFF! When Nelly locked up she also stalled instantly, causing a massive and sudden jerk which made everything join me in the front seat, even light items such as CDs ended up around my feet / on my lap. please pack your stuff in such a way it is held securely / wont fly past the front seats if you do have an accident.
Trust me it really hurts.

Nasty - glad to hear you're ok - shakes you up this kinda stuff. I've not felt the same since my steering failed.
Other than the suspension stuff is there much more damage?
