well i bit the bullet and bought a mini as my daily driver

choice was between

1972 green mini 1000, with 1330cc engine twin carbs, 296cam etc. mot dec 12

or

1986 mini city e 998, with 1293cc engine, mg metro cam. mot feb 13

Ive bought the city e, it was slightly cheaper and less of a "pig" to drive daily. It makes more finicial sense and its longer mot too.

heres a quick snap, it does need some work so a "rolling project" thread to follow.

Its got a deep dish steering wheel, walnut dash, low back bucket seats n matching rear seat, alloys (12" 100+ alloys) but he lost wheel nuts for back ones, so currently fitted with some 10" split rims. (these will be for sale soon, but i only have two!!!)

Came with some spares too including twin carbs.

Need some work on the drivers door, few paint touch ups and stuff like the dashboard/choke cable fitting correctly. Needs abit of a tune up too, bogs down from standing when you set off.

I will be selling
- twin carbs
- 2x 10inch split rims (suit trailer?)

More pictures later

thermostat, choke cable and 2x rear shockers ordered.

themostat - doesnt seem to heat up hot, im thinking no thermostat fitted at present.
choke cable - dont know what they've done but it comes out of dash when you pull it
rear shocks - advised on mot for lessened damping effect and corrosion.

ive got a pair of front shocks i might fit while im at it.

Heater fixed, was heater tap blocked solid.

Carb adjusted slightly. bonnet pins adjusted. dashboard removed and refitted to remove a "rattle".

Need to order some wheel nuts for the back wheels, which ill do now.

did post but forum went down.

Yeah i got it for abit less then advertised, was happy with its history. Its not a perfect car, but plenty of MOT and can be worked on as I go which is what I like.

Allready got front and rear shockers to go on, new choke cable, headunit etc

Just ordered some speakers and some wire etc from halfrauds (money off due to bank hol weekend)

Hope to collect some 12x6 wheels tomorrow. Which i think will suit it more than the 5J wheels on at the minute.

Ive allready modified the bonnet pins, the passenger seat so you can access the back seat and tinkered with the engine/carb.

Done approx 200-250 miles and i am happy and confident with it. need to be too, as this is my only car now.

Usually get down "your way" washington - mondays and wednesday evenings so will keep my eyes peeled for you.

You have that many different cars i cant keep up. tho the vans are easier to spot.

Haha, I'm thinking about changing cars in the near future again!

The van is the safest bet.
